Are we DEAD ?

Maybe my newsreader has gone south for better weather ... ??? I don't see diddly-squat from anybody for at least 24 hours. Please tell me that you all didn't freeze to death ... not a considerate time to mention that we had short-sleeve weather today. Anybody quilting? Anybody breathing? Anybody ..... Polly

Hey Polly

I just got home, been out in this damned wet cold weather. Went to the coast for dinner and wish I hadn't. Should have stayed home and quilted. The one good thing was the dinner. Rib Eye, baked potato, steamed veggies, tropical salad, mixed melon pieces and hot fudge sundae. Was thinking of quilting and that's the reason for the sundae. Got to figure how long to make a quilt for my daughter-in-law who is 5 feet 10 inches tall. She lives in Gulf Shores. Don't plan on going anywhere tomorrow. More rain, and if this stuff moves north they are in for yet more snow. YUK. So how was your day.

Yes Polly. Not much happening so it's not you newsreader.

Warm here today. 34 degrees. I got tired of the cold so I sent it all south. And according to the news I'm going to keep it that way all week so enjoy.

Oh my Steve-- you mean it is warmer in Alaska than it is in Michigan?? Sunday I think our high was like 10 degrees! UGH! I don't mind the really cold days if the sun is shining brightly -- but we're getting frigid temps AND gray skies... I think I need a trip to where it's warm and sunny!

Well, come and visit! It's going to be about 40 here on Friday - that's Celsius! :-)

I'm alive, barely.

Went to take a shower and was moving fast because the bathroom was COLD! Then I bundled back into my clothes and back out under a heap of afghans and quilts when I saw frost around the drain. I am not stepping foot into a cast iron tub when there is frost in the bottom of it!

It got down to around -15F Sunday night. I woke up shivering and evacuated the bedroom. Everybody else was already in a heap on the living room floor. I just joined the puppy pile. This is why I hate big wide windows. Even with storm windows and plastic they let in a ton of cold.

I'm still here. Some of us in IL are probably still recovering from the Bears loss Sunday night.

That seems to be more and more the case these days. Are folks all chattering over on Facebook or somewhere else and we weren't invited? Seems that happened some years ago. Here in the high desert it has been nearing 70 out. I have been out working in the yard on most of these nice days but yesterday I got to take a quilt class at guild. Judy Martin and strip paper piecing. I really don't enjoy paper piecing but her method is better than most.

I wish I could go south for better weather! Here in central NJ it's cold - but better than yesterday - currently having snow flurries and another storm predicted for tomorrow. Yippee! The pile of snow at the end of the sidewalk is frozen in place. Think I'll have to wait for a spring thaw for that to disappear.

Otherwise have been working on a baby quilt for the person who found my FW for me. Been trying to come up with the right project for him and a newly announced baby seemed to be the one. All pieced on the FW and am now in the process of hand quilting. Should be done in a week or so. No clue as to when the baby is due or gender so it's full of red, green, yellow and a tiny bit of blue.

That and trying to make room to work with my serger. Took a class a couple of weeks ago to discover it needed servicing - badly. Took it in, got it back late last week. Also discovered I needed tools. Finally got those yesterday. Now I can try to figure out again how to thread it and do the homework assigned in class. Since my sewing room is very small to begin with and I have multiple projects in various states, I think I'm finally at a point I can get the serger set up and start playing.

Mind you, that will happen between loads of laundry and taking Flat Stanley out and about for a few sight seeing tours. He needs to be back to DNiece's class by Feb. 4. Trying to do a bit of local research on some obsure features of our quaint little town to accompany him. That's proving to be more of a challenge than I would have thought. Guess a trip to the Library with him is in order.

Kim in NJ where we're into double digit temps today waiting for the next winter adventure.

I see you Polly. Things are /were slow yesterday, I have to admit that I have been reading... I got a Kindle right before Christmas and it's addictive... AND, I discovered a late, late night fellow named Craig Ferguson, I've had some insomnia, I love double ontondra (French isn't it? can't spell it, can barely say it) and he's a master of it, dirty mouth, and a lot of bleeping, but... It's sort of like flirting, but safe... I'm an old woman now, and my boy toy will turn 60 at the end of this year, I can't quilt all of the time. I read Craig's autobiography and he had a hard time with drugs and booze, right a bad time of his own making but , in my opinion, he's made it. He's been on TV for 6 or more years and I just found him, insomnia did it. He's "an American by choice" with a cute Scottish accent, and I did see him on the Drew Cary show playing an Englishman, with a bad accent, but that Is the only place I saw him, and I didn't know...

Still breathing and quilting here, Polly, and trying to stay warm :)

Just finished up up the top of my Valentine's Day wall hanging for my office. Hope to do a bit of free motion on it later tonight.

Hey, Polly..never fear, we are here! I've actually been doing alot of hand quilting of baby quilts. Also alot of my spare time goes towards looking for a job. I am online most days at least for short periods, and this is one of the priority stops when I'm on. I'm also reading a trilogy book my SIL gave me. It's called "the Myst", can't remember the author at the moment, but it is a good read. amy in SoCal (where it was 75*F today and sunny, as usual)

I'm still here! Here, and quilting. But I already told that story. I'm so glad tears don't stain fabric or I'd a been in a real pickle.
