Attn: John - interesting yarn usage idea - on topic too!

I believe I've got the right person. If not I appologize to you and that person.

While going through and purging my magazines I found, in Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting May/June 2005 issue, a 'sew easy' bit on using yarn as binding. It is not a technique you would want to do on a quilt you plan to use, but on a wall hanging it would be an interesting detail. You cut all your layers of your quilt so you have a nice even striaght edge. Then you lay your yarn strand(s) right beside your quilt and use monofilament or a nice decorative thread to zig zag it in place. The article says to use a darning foot and to go around the quilt twice. For more than one starnd it instructs to twist them together before applying. If this is not clear and you are intersted, let me know. I still currently have the article.

Just thought I'd throw that out there for you.

I hear ya. I currently have 3 - 40 gal. totes and one that is even larger, filled with yarn from DH's grandmother. This is after I gave several garbage bags of various latch hook kits and rug yarn away. I'm still young, realtivley speaking (31), so we'll see if I manage to get it all used up in my lifetime or not. I crochet and am making scrappy afghans to donate. I would like get knitting down, but so far my efforts haven't been too great.
