You have to buy a program that allows you to create them. If you visit

- you can learn more. I ended up buying Acrobat, but if you own Pagemaker or some versions of Photoshop, the ability is included.

I believe you can do an add on to MS Office that allows it, too.

If you search online -- you can find some free software for creating PDF files

-- I've not used them -- I use Adobe Acrobat (bought and paid for) -- but I've heard of others who use them.

just go to

and type in pdf creator or pdf writer and start checking out your options.

If you just need one or two documents -- if you want to email them to me -- I can convert them to pdf and email them back to you.

This comes free as part of MacOS. You can't edit them as you can using the real Acrobat, but it works fine for producing versions of documents to send to people who don't have the same software as you.

It's an option in the Print dialog box.

I use PrimoPDF, a free download from . It installs as another printer, so you can use it on any file that you can print. Use the print option on your document and select PrimoPDF as the printer. I do my guild's newsletter using Lotus WordPro; then I use PrimoPDF to convert my WordPro file to PDF to post on our web page. It's easy to use and the price is right.

It really surprises me how many references I've read about Pagemaker on this group. My career was in newspaper, and it was really rare to for anyone to have ever heard of it outside the newpaper people. I do love that program, though. Still use it, and probably always will. I hated Indesign.
