Digging out!!

We are on generator power at preset, as our power has been out since yesterday at 1:00. DH just ran power cables to the computers and the internet so we can get on line. We have been staying warm and toasty, thanks to the generator & the pellet stove. We can run anything with

110, like the refrigerator and lights - but no running water - as the water pump requires 240 volts. NYSEG says power should come on by noon...but I ain't holding my breath :)

This storm really packed a whollop....my front yard has over a foot of wet, VERY heavy snow. It's impossible to plow, it is so heavy it will not move!

Everything closed down yesterday and I am taking the day off today to dig out and deal with things. My poor outdoor plantings, holly and evergreen bushes, are squashed and probably badly damaged.

To get on-topic....I stayed up sewing with my 99 hand crank last evening and got pretty far on my flying geese quilt!!

Sending warm, positive thoughts your way. As our weatherman said this morning - hang in there till the weekend - it IS supposed to be 50+ and sunny. Hopefully the sun and warm will melt some of that doggone immovable wet stuff. Thankfully, we have power here in our little corner of coastal Maine... though our son and his SO will be staying with us for a few days till they get their power back. [After the ice storm we had some years back, we decided to replace our old wood stove with a new propane heater - it doesn't require lifting/stacking wood and doesn't need electricity!] Stay warm and snug! ME-Judy

Gee, it's been about 21C here for the weekend and last couple days. I think that's in the 70s (F). You can come over and use my shower anytime!

For crying out loud. You poor people. Hope the power came on for you Irene. I hope things get back on track and springtime finds you before summer hits. Flying geese stitched with a handcrank do sound pretty nifty though. Taria
