Done! Yay!

I finished the binding on the 'moon over mountain' quilt I've been working on for AGES today. I beat my deadline of getting it on the bed by this winter! With a little help from my friends, that is. Rita in MA did the lovely quilting (of which she probably has better photos). I was delighted to see that the finished product fit in our washer/dryer and that the batiks didn't run (I did presoak them, but I was still nervous for some reason). The pattern is "Summer Solstice" by Jean Wells, from Fons & Porter's February 2004 issue. And it is DONE!

wow, Lynn!!!! that was worth the wait. i know a little someone who is really going to demand snuggling up under that with all those bright colours to look at. :) not mentioning any names tho. lol. perhaps a duplicate in miniature out of the scraps might keep someone in his/her own bed some nights this winter. looks great with the black background matching your furniture too. a job well done by both of you. what is the quilting design? cheers from a somewhat chilly spring sunday morning in the south pacific, jeanne

Thanks everyone! Ha, yes, Jeanne, a miniature is a great idea, but I can't bear to do another block right now! And he has his own little quilt waiting to be bound too. :) (I hate the black furniture! It is DH's, from pre-marriage, and he refuses to part with it. It is comfy and functional, but not really my style. But, if you can't beat it, accessorize it with a quilt, right?!). Rita could say more about the quilting design, but basically stippled skies, stippled border, concentric circles in the moons, and a really original sort of jig- jaggy design on the mountains (don't know how to describe it, but it "works" beautifully in person), all in different shades of variegating thread. Can't wait to sleep under it tonight!

Howdy!

Very pretty.

Dye Magnets are a good companion for batik quilts. ;-)
