finished quilt

Finally finished this thing in the Finished Quilts folder --

It's the 2007 Going Batty 101. I took a six-week class at a local quilt shop a couple of years ago.

It was the class from H-E-double-golfsticks!!! I learned a lot, but the atmosphere was just mean. People were afraid to come to class if they hadn't done their "homework." One woman was isolated and not allowed to work with the rest of us one night. She was also not allowed to use the iron if the people who did their homework wanted it first. A mother and daughter stayed home one week because they had not finished quilting their quilt tops within a week's time. The instructor kept asking why one of the other instructors was more popular. Gee, I wonder . . .

When the class was over, I never wanted to see that quilt again. But it still had to be quilted and bound. Finally got it out a few weeks ago and decided to finish it off. I spent too much money and energy on it to NOT finish it.

So I finished it yesterday, and I think it's pretty. Even did some little free-motion swirly loop-de-doos in the wide sashing. And this one is MINE, not the cat's.

All your work is really nice Kay - I especially like your Four Hearts quilt.

Well, just look at all those neat little patterns and pointy and meeting points. Good for you for trying some free motion. I didn't try it for many years! Well done, Kay. It was probably worth persevering with the class, if, as you say, you learned a lot from it. . In message , Kay Ahr writes

Whoa Kay, I think I'd be tempted to ask for my money back. Quilting is supposed to be fun! In any case, I'm glad you overcame your dislike for the quilt because it came out great! Also really like the

4 hearts quilt too. :-)

Thank you! I'm thinking of doing the hearts again in red-white-and-blue. Or even 30's.

Howdy!

It IS pretty, you're right, Kay. Congrats on Finishing this pretty quilt!

The instructor's mother may be glad that you didn't throttle her baby girl. Then again... Staying out of jail is an aid in Finishing quilts (the law is so touchy about that kind of thing).

Wow! You get to keep it, too -- coool!

Thank you!

Yeah, I'm pretty good at points after that class! I still sometimes have trouble with points when I am sewing together paper-pieced sections.

I took a half-day free-motion class about the same time I was taking the

6-week class. (From a different quilt shop!) So it took me two years to really get up the nerve and just do it.

Thank you!! I really like it too. I HAD to finish it because I love the fabric, especially the red with the pink flowers. And now the cat loves it too. So it has passed the QI with flying colors!
