Quilt airing

I went to Pennington Quilts today, a very nice LQS in Hopewell, NJ to see their "quilt airing" today. I was so surprised. I had not heard of this before, but they have a wonderful wooded area behind the shop and they strung clothes line between the trees and invited those that had taken classes there to display their completed projects. They had viewers vote on their favorite with a very nice prize to the winner. The quilts were lovely. It was so nice to see the different fabric choices for the same class. The projects were made with learning a technique in mind, not pleasing a judge in a show. They had some jackets and coat, bags and tablerunners, but also lots of lap quilts and full size quilts. There was a king size "storm at sea" that was just beautiful. It was a wonderful way to spend a beautiful day in NJ! I hear the Allentown, NJ Quilter's Barn is doing the same thing in the spring with displaying the quilts outside the shops on Main Street. Kinda like an East Coast Sister's Oregon show. Just thought I'd share.

Wow I finally finished my applique leaf top. I took it to local shop to quilt around blocks, then I plan to handquilt the leaves in an echo pattern around and inside each leaf. I was so releived to finish it since I have been working on it for over a year. One of those projects where you pick it up and work on it until you can't stand to and then leave it for a few weeks and then back to it. I just got through ironing on some bonnet sue designs to embroider to put into a quilt. So I've been quite busy in my spare time when I'm not teaching. I teach resource math at local high school and our department just bought an embroidery machine. It has been assigned to me. I plan to use math skills to have the kids make quilts using the embroidery designs. I'm excited! Besides the embroidery quilts, my next personal project will be a 2 color quilt. I'm looking for a nice design now. Barb
