Hi,
I went to this very interesting quilt show today at a local gallery. It featured the traditional quilts of three differnt cultures and the stories behind them. One was actually weaving, rather than quilting, but it is from our local aboriginal culture, the Sto;lo Nation, one was from the mennonite culture, and the third was called Ralli. Anyhow these Ralli quilts were so beautiful, I had never heard of them, but they come from Pakistan and it is traditional form and the history of it was quite fasinating, but the most interesting things was how similar the patterns were to some of the traitional quilt blocks from here. Also there was whole cloth type ones with amazing stictching, as well as appliqued ones. But they were all hand stitched. I have never seen so many stitches in my life. Anyhow it was a different type of quilt show than I am used to seeing, but it was so beautiful, so I thought I would share. The Ralli women make some very beautiful quilts, well all the quilts were, but these were new to me so Im all excited about them :)
