Lovely Quilt Show weekend

I flew to Melbourne (2hr flt) meeting up with my girlfriend Jenny. The next day we drove 2.5hrs to a little town in central Victoria with the delightful name of Violet Town. The following day (Saturday) was their monthly marketday and the local quilters put on a Quilt Airing Show. Over 300 quilts were displayed in the town hall and local firehouse station. All down the main street quilts hung from post to post. They were all lovely - many country style quilts with lots of applique and country themes. The weather was gorgeous, sunny and warm and nary a breath of wind to blow the quilts askew. My Scrappy Field of Dreams quilt that I had gifted to Jenny hung in the Hairdressers window. I think it was the first time the quilters had organised a show like this and they were thrilled with the response - so many visitors to the market and show. Jenny and I stayed 10km out of town at Jenny's girlfriend's farm. Robyn has 200 Hereford cattle (the black ones). In the evening before dinner we three girls jumped on the ute (pickup truck), drove around the paddocks checking on the cattle which were dropping calves. We stopped by a billabong (creek) and cracked open a bottle of champagne and toasted our friendship and success of the show. Robyn is very community minded having been mayor of the shire at some point. After the champagne we came back to the homestead (farmhouse) for a roast lamb dinner with the neighbours and Robyn's husband. Robyn and I had made a delicious almond, lemon and cherry cake for dessert which was well received by all. Drove back to Melbourne and flew back home. A wonderful four days that I shall long remember fondly. Cheers Bronnie Oz

Not really. I took a couple of pix - one of my quilt thru the window of the hairdressers! Sitting on the back of the ute drinking champagne! I'll see about putting them on my Picassa pix site. Bronnie
