Finished project

I hope everyone is surviving the rain and wind! The nasty weather inspired me to finish a project that I started years and years ago! My DH and I have three boys. When they were much younger, I used to make all of their boxer shorts. I worked in a fabric store, and every time there was a flannel, or cute novelty print remnant, I'd bring it home. I was the "queen" of boxer shorts, sometimes cutting out three pair at a time! Well, I saved all the leftover scraps of flannel and cut them into 5 " squares. Over the years, I've made three other quilts from the squares, including my first quilting attempt.....which I turned and tied. The latest quilt (the last picture in "My Quilts") finishes off all the blocks. Our youngest just rented a new (to him) loft apartment in center city Philadelphia and he can use it on his bed. Another plus....instead of batting, I used old flowery print flannel, and backed it with flannel too.

The most loved quilt I've ever made looks just like your plaid squares. It's the first one the grands grab when it's time to curl up with a silly movie and popcorn. Fortunately, it only gets cozier with washing. Polly

Love it, a real boy quilt and has inspired me to make one for my DH.

Well done, Alice! Your DS will keep toasty warm. I like how you used a flannel inside the sandwich. That way you could use up what I assume you no longer wanted! Pat in Virginia

The very first one I made with the 5" blocks, I used my serger! I didn't know any better, and it turned out fine. My son, his wife and two boys have been using and washing it for almost ten years.

How sweet, Alice! A great way to remember all of those boxers you made over the years! Plus it looks nice and snuggly, too.
