I went to pick up the Designer 1 yesterday. Spent all day today setting it up and playing with it, including stitching out a couple of embroderies. It sews beautifully, thought it will take awhile to remember where all the stitches are.
It has an automatic thread cutter ( a feature I've never had before). I can see that being very convenient. I'm about ready to start a new project, just so I can practice more.
Too bad I have to work tomorrow.
Maybe tomorrow should be a sick day!

Maureen, I LOVE my D1, and am having a bit of withdrawl pains at present because it is in the shop. I really have a lot of fun with her, and have made many a garment, quilt and project since I bought her new two years ago this month!
Fortunately, as a vintage sewing machine collector I have others to 'tide me over' this rough period until she gets back home.
One more day and then the weekend - hopefully you will have the entire time to play with your new baby.
There are a couple of YAHOO groups for the Designer 1 - feel free to join! The members are great and so knowledgeable and helpful.
