Harry Potter panel swap.

While having a rummage in my blanket box for some scraps to try stippling on, I found a HP panel. 34x44 inches.

I bought it when my GS was younger but he only wanted the cushions that went with it. So I know I shall not use it now he is nearly 15.

It is like the one on ebay number 110053748173

Would anyone like to do a swap for some fabric, but please no purples. I am in the UK.

I failed miserably at my first attempt at stippling. LOL Shirley

Howdy!

Don't need the swap, Shirley (that panel is in the stash somewhere) but I'd like to know -- why "no purples. I am in the UK"? Are purples outlawed there now? Only a certain number are allowed in and that quota has been filled already? Purples go wild when they enter the UK and the Special Forces in Charge of Purples are just too danged busy to deal with any more? Purples must sit in quarantine for

6 months and you want fabric now? Is there a ban on all purples, some purples, purples mixed w/ another color, batik purples, solid purples, purples in fat quarters, 1/2 yard or 1/2 metre purples, or cotton purples? Or is it that you just don't like purples? Is that it, Shirley? Got something against purples? Purples did something to you in the UK that you don't want to talk about or be reminded of so that purples are now outlawed from your UK stash..? C'mon, Shirley, tell us, what do you have against purples? Huh? I don't mind, really, I prefer greens (& keep giving away the purples), but I'm just wondering, what's this about "no purples. I'm in the UK" ? ;-D

I don't stipple, altho' tipple-- now that's something else, isn't it? But stippling doesn't mess w/ me so I leave it alone. Better luck next time. ;-)

I went to school during WW11 and at that time there were only about 5 colours in the paint boxes. One was a violent purple. It made me feel ill and working with it used give me headaches. Still now purples make me feel ill. As for wearing it or any shade of mauve, violet Etc. makes me look very sallow. Just not my colour at all.

Should have put a space between the lines.

Because I am in the UK some people might not want to do a swap.

Just don't care much for the jigsaw-puzzle look on my own quilts, thanks. Don't care for the twisting & turning of the hoop to go in different directions in such a small area. There's already enough things to drive me crazy(er). YMMV ;-D

However, I'm going to try the quilting w/ ginger trick; am even thinking of sprinkling a bit of ginger on the fried okra. See, I'm open to new ideas. Just not stippling. :-D

I figured it was something like this, Shirley, but had too much fun playing w/ my ideas. And I understood the UK bit, but by then I was on a roll. ;-) There are some memories smells that still make me ill, peanut butter sandwiches eaten inside the classroom on a rainy day (I attended a one-room school house in 1961) mixed w/ the smell of cheap school paste --yuck! add some baloney/bologna smell and it's just sickening. Prang Paints -- long metal box had 6 or 8 colors; had to make our own purple. The paints don't smell the same now, but the Crayola Crayons do.

and here in rainy Suffolk - that makes a change, its usually rainy Cornwall and dry Suffolk!

Quilt show yesterday had a competition for Red and White. Now I love red and love white, but just the two colours together were too much. I couldn't have sewn that, just too overpowering. Even hurt to look.

That is a cute panel. I did a quilt like that for a charity event a while back. A picture is in my Kathy's Quilts folder in my webshots album. If you watch -- you can still find some of the accent fabrics on ebay. Just search for Harry Potter fabric....

Sandy: The HQ stippling I mentioned does NOT look like the meander stippling done by MQ. It does NOT require turning the hoop. It is more along the lines of closely done background stitching patterns. It IS a John Flynn book, see:

is unique and quite beautiful. An experienced HQ'r will find it of interest. So, if you come across that book, check it out, for curiosity's sake, or just to shut me up!;P PAT, bossy in Virginia PS: Have you ever heard of ginger in Chili? I haven't tried it yet.

Ah, I see. Very pretty handquilting. I'll be watching for more. Thanks, Pat-a-rooni! Most of the hand-stippling I've seen is not that nice, and very tedious. I do have a piece of John's Flynn's machine quilting samples, just for the heck of it. And a couple of his books.

Chili? I don't eat chili. Don't make it, either (it doesn't like me). But I have put ginger in the pot of pinto beans. For health reasons. I prefer ginger in cookies. ;-D
