I'm new to quilting I've done a 9 patch and square in square lapquilts, but I'd really love to try a star and I can't figure out howto cut the diamond right. Can someone help me? please......Lynette

Lynette, since you asked so nicely, I hate to do this - but I'm wondering ifI can talk you out of making stars with diamonds? Diamonds are mean, nasty,onerous, and can (and will) stretch on all four sides plushorizontally and vertically. They don't like to be handled. You might want to get a few more quilts "under your belt" before youtake on diamonds. There are so many beautiful blocks you can enjoy while youimprove your quilting skills, including lots of ways to make stars withouthaving diamonds to deal with. These thoughts are not meant to discourage you. I would just like tokeep you a happy quilter. Go look at to see enough fun stuffto get you a little further down the quilting road. Polly

UH-OH! Now you've really gone and done it. lol I am eagerly awaiting time tostart one of these! For anyone out there that is equally interested, thereare many different free software programs available that allow you to designwhat you want and play with the tiles, to create your own "masterpiece". I didn't get one of them yet. I just dejunked my puter and apparently, Itook out a little too much of the necessary junk. lol I'm going to be verypicky about what goes back into my pc from now on, instead of getting everyprogram that comes along that I think I need. lol Shelly
