New Pix Shibori Wallhanging

Two weeks ago our guild hosted a workshop by Janice Gunner of England. The topic was Japanese shibori dyeing. It was a two day class with the first day dyeing, and the second starting to sew a project using our newly dyed fabric. The first day was hectic, so much to learn in a short time. We then had to go home after 5pm, rinse all the tied/stitched fabrics, take out the stitching whilst still wet, wash in detergent, spin dry, dry and iron. Fell into bed exausted at 10pm. Everyone was in the same position. It probably should have been a 3 day course. Luckily I did some prep work the day before, stitching several pieces of fabric for the stitch-resist work. And that took several hours. This sampler is using one piece of background shibori which was stitch- resisted in two directions grid-wise. I'll put up a pix later showing some of the other dyed fabrics. See pix at

I've only done dyeing in workshops. Too messy at home! I made sure I dyed as much as I could in class and that little stash will keep my going for a good while.

Good news: I got my confirmation for classes at Houston. Doing two -- Ricky Tims (I can always learn something from that man) and a Flying Ginko Leaves class. My buddies here also got in.
