Hi, redrose! Welcome to the group. Please tell us more about yourself - what kind of quilting are you drawn to? How'd you get started? Where do you keep your stash? (Please be specific and include maps and locations and favorite treats of any QIs)

Hi Red (Rose? another name?)! Welcome to this group. What sort(s) of quilting do you like to do? There's such a variety, but I'm just sure that we have representatives from all of them here.

Now for the details ;) : Do you have pics of your quilts on a site that we could see if you posted a link? Do you have QIs? (These are generally four-legged and furry, but there are exceptions and are sometimes even two-legged or no-legged! What kind of chocolate do you like? (and don't take Pat in VA too seriously about the chocolate vetting -- she'll like you even if you don't send it right away )

There must be more questions I've forgotten to ask, but I think these are the principal ones. ;)

Welcome Redrose. I hope you'll continue to enjoy your new hobby. It can be life-changing! You will meet lots of new people here. Take your time to get to know us - you'll get lots of different answers to your question; but that's all part of the fun. . In message , redrose writes

Welcome to the group! As Patti said, quilting can be life-changing. I think that is a very big understatement!!!!! What great people I have met through quilting.

What have you done so far? Do you have any pictures to share? QI's? I have 2 of the furry, canine variety. The pup, who is 11 months old (choco lab) never is without a tennis ball in her mouth which makes it very difficult to sew because I'm always tossing or kicking the ball for her!

Nice to meet you..... Laurie G. in sunny CA

Welcome from another Newbie. Just started posting here myself. I'm another that has probably tried every textile craft known and enjoy them all! Although I think I've done fairly well teaching myself, I am enjoying the BOM at my LQS for learning different techniques. What I think I've most learned so far is that I do MUCH better with strip piecing and putting whole tops together as opposed to cutting/sewing one block at a time. I seem to be able to match points, etc. better that way than one small piece at a time - however bizarre that seems (no pun intended)! Good luck in your endeavors.

Hiya redrose, welcome! Have a seat, something to drink, tell us about yourself and what you like to do. This is a great group to talk to and learn from. Whatever question you have, someone will know the answer or have a suggestion. And sometimes it's even serious! ;-)

Welcome, I have been away a few days and am trying to get through over

400 messages I will make it before I go to bed. More later about what's coming up for me, but am so glad you are here. I have yet to do my first quilt, tried one, didn't like the way it was working out so tossed it and am going to try again after the first of the year.

Red Rose so poetic. I really like it. I am a beginner too. So far I have 2 quilts tops done and will be posting to the group as soon as I can get pictures taken We are in the process of selling my house and downsizing so the pics will have to wait. Getting into a smaller, one floor place (right now it is four floors, 2,200 sq. ft.) is more important right now. I tripped over a cat again and am pretty sore. Its a good thing that my cats know when to hide. I am going to have such a bruise on my hip. My ability to navigate on stairs keeps getting worse. Anyway, my fist quilt top was Turning Twenty. An amazingly easy quilt top, which I managed to screw up but it still works. It was said that you can't screw this one up and that is right because even though I have some wrong placements the quilt still works. Best advice is to get in there and get going and have fun. BTW, we can be a nosy and noisy bunch, but you will find the most wonderful and caring people in this group. Wlecome to the group.

WELCOME Redrose!! The only rule you really need to know: Send a pound or two of chocolate to the Official Chocolate Tasting Office, conveniently located here in my Palace in Virginia, USA. I will taste test if for you and report via E-Mail. No need to thank me! It is my selfless volunteer service to the RCTQ Community.
