New to group - Looking for "Kids" Beads

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried shipwreck and they did have some that I could get by with, but not ideal. What I am really looking for is either glass or ceramic (or even maybe pewter) trains, planes, trucks, fire trucks things like that. I have sports beads already, but would like to get some decent quality of the vehicles to add to my selection.

I had thought about trying to make them myself, but I don't know anything about doing that. I checked out the link, and it looks relatively easy, but I'm pretty sure I'd end up in divorce court if I started buy stuff to make my own beads. LOL My husband already thinks I've lost my mind over the beads!

I just did a search on e-bay and found some awesome polymer beads. None in the shapes that I need, but boy they are amazing! I don't think I'm going be able to resist trying it myself! I just ordered some books from the library to check it out, but if you have any tips or can direct me to any other websites I'd appreciate.

my husband would be absolutely thrilled if I went to your class! "Oh honey, I'm going to be going to Tallahassee for a few days so that I can learn yet another way to spend all of our money!" I swear I must have the most patient man on earth! I started this so that I can try to supplement our income by making beaded rosaries and jewerly so that I stay home with my kids. My 9 yo son is handicapped and has periodic seizures which result in stays in the hospital for a few days, so I thought it would be the perfect situation. HOWEVER, I'm supplementing someone's income, but it's just not mine! LOL

I'm really just starting out, but it does get frustrating sometimes, but I keep plugging along. I'm definately going to look into making the polymer clay car and truck beads since I can't find what I really want and the items I saw online are adorable.

Hi again,

I checked out some of these sites to get a better idea of what I'm getting into. So, basically, for what I want (i.e. cars, trucks, trains - to start) I can just sculpt them like I would with say play-doh, but then you cook it and it gets hard and you use some sort of sealant? Am I heading in the right direction?

I'm sure I'm driving you nuts, but I can't believe I haven't discovered these polymer clay beads before. I'm a sucker for the really cutesy ones for kids bracelets. Here is a url:

As a newly addicted polmer clay bead/pendant/earring/necklace/bracelet maker, I can attest that a 12 step group is needed for this too-much-fun activity. (Am now trying to shape a birdhouse to use as a planter out of poly clay... and have begun covering goose eggs with clay... it will only get worse!) Go for it! well, i jumped in both feet - my daughter and i hit every craft store within a 20 mile radius of my house! she's 6 and loves crafts too, so it's actually an awesome activity we can learn together. I'm a bit clueless, but attempted an airplane I saw in one of the books today. Not bad, nothing as good as what's online, but hopefully I'll improve with time. I've got tons of ideas, just have to get the skills to catch up with my brain that's in high speed!
