Hi Everyone - New to RCB

Hello,

I'm new to the group so I thought I'd make a brief introductory statement to get acquainted with some of you. My name is Tess. I've made beaded projects in the past, but have recently developed a wildfire passion for making jewelry! It's truly an addiction (as I've seen some of you mention). I hope it doesn't become so bad that we have to create an "RCB Anonymous" board though :-). I enjoy making bracelets (personalized with names and for causes). So far I'm just gifting my creations - not selling, but I figure it's a great way to practice. I will probably dabble in other types of jewelry here soon, but I just love bracelets - they're always a conversation piece!

I prefer to stick to glass beads and beads made from natural materials (not plastic). I could definitely use some tips on bracelet sizing, I always seem to make them a tad to short or long. Any help is appreciated.

As far as what I do outside of beading...I'm married and employed as the director of grant operations for a school finance consulting firm. My company helps inner-city schools find/manage supplemental funding opportunities. It's a really humbling experience. I love writing, reading and spending time with family, friends and at church.

My husband is an avid google grouper (in the collectable video game/pinball arena) so I'm happy to have found a group with my niche on here as well. I'll look forward to chatting with you all soon!

Welcome, Tess!

One of the best things I've got for bracelet sizing is one of these doo-hickeys:

Barbara,

Great, I went ahead and ordered the bracelet sizer and some bead stoppers (we'll see if they work). I'm pretty anal retentive so it takes me a long time to find a design that's "just right." Then it's frustrating to get it together and have it be just a hair too big. I'm a novice, I'll learn. :-)

Also...I love your backseatgrammarian.com website! My B.A. is in English with an emphasis in Professional Writing. I can definitely relate to that kind of humor.

Thanks for responding. Have a lovely evening!!
