Hi Fellow Scrappers!

I just wanted to introduce myself. I have never been on a usenet group

- so I'm not sure where to start!

My name is Melanie Morales. I was introduced to Scrapbooking about ten years ago at a Creative Memories party - but even though I spent over $150 that day, I didn't really get serious about it until about three years ago when I got remarried; and now that I've just had my first son, I'm really hooked on preserving our family memories. I've even taken up a big challenge of organizing all of our photo's from growing up - rescuing them from the dreaded sticky albums and will be putting them in albums for our family members. It's nearly an overwhelming task.

I live in Amarillo, TX. And I might point out that on your homepage on the local stores section. The Down Memory Lane on I-40 is not related to DML 2 on Bell and it does not have a website. And also, Down Memory Lane on I-40 is going out of business - though they have the big sign, I'm told they have nothing on sale. DML2 is a GREAT store. It's called DML2 because it is the 2nd store to Down Memory Lane in Lubbock. They are the stores with the website.

I am married and we have one son that was born in March after many struggles and miscarriages. He is our miracle child. I had quit fertility drugs and given up - and then 8 months later, surprise! I'm passing out at Wal-Mart and a little old lady is insisting I'm pregnant and puts a pregnancy test in my shopping basket - which I take when I get home and wouldn't ya know? I thought she was crazy - but she was right!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this group. I found it through google. I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends and sharing ideas & learning new things from others. Are there any others on here in the Texas Panhandle or Texas South Plains areas?

Welcome Melanie!! Congrats on having your miracle child, that is a great story. I'm not in your neck of the woods, I'm in Ga...but I have been scrapping about 6 years?? I think, lol! I got my start at a CM party too. My kids are 15 and 11 and give me plenty of scrapping opportunities. Glad you stopped in to say hello, and I hope you'll stick around and share some pages! Welcome, Melanie! You'll love this group! There are some wonderfully friendly, helpful folks here. I had the same challenge when I first learned about keeping pictures in acid-free environments, and that those "magnetic" albums are anything but. When I went back to remove all my kids' pix from them, I found a lot of the earliest ones (30+ years) had yellowed, and some simply could not be removed. I was very glad to discover that I still had almost all the negatives, and they had been packed away in a box, and were fine. So I didn't lose anything. (Except the cost of reprinting them!) I've been working on my family history, too, trying to organize, and find something about, the photos my mother left me. Some go back over 100 years. Not long ago, I was taking her pictures out of the old scrapbook she had glued them into, and discovered that on nearly every picture, she had written something about it on the back. Then when she glued the pictures into the scrapbook, she covered most of the writing. So now I'm trying to remove the remains of the black paper from the pictures so I can read some of the writing on the back. (I've tried Undo. I think the pictures were stuck to the album too long.) Congratulations on your new son! I know you are thrilled. It's interesting how the old lady knew the signs so well. I'll bet she is a mom, several times over. Scrapbooking baby pictures is fun (even when the baby is 30 years old). I know we're all looking forward to seeing your work. Again, welcome aboard!

Melanie. Welcome to the group. I tried to introduce myself to scrapping, but it was not til I went to a CM scrap party that I got totally hooked, and it is rare that I leave with less than $150 in supplies. I have almost all of the tools, and can never get enough stickers, letters, and paper. My kids are 10 and 7 months.

Arleen, what part of GA are you in. The area that I am in FL we consider an extension of GA

Hey Mel- I'm in NW GA...Woodstock to be specific...we are about 35 minutes north of Atlanta... I have a friend from a cheerleading board that is down in Tifton...what area of FL. are you in? Arleen

Hi Melanie, welcome to RCS. I think I made the corrections to the website that you mentionned!

Welcome Melanie! You are going to love it here and these ladies will make you feel very welcome and like you have been a part of this group for a long time from the very start. I've only been a part of the group for about a month (maybe 6 weeks now). I am in SC and I have always been a crafter and always trying to learn something new. I finally decided to learn scrapbooking and bought a magazine then saw that it was on DIY Network and watched the shows relentlessly. I learned so much from there. Then I found this group and they have been wonderful. I have 3 kids and a stepson AND a

4-legged son (my pooch, Jake). My oldest son is 16, my middle son is 14, and my daughter will be 5 in July.

From the name you are posting under, is your son's name Kade?

Welcome to RCS Melanie! You'll find a great bunch of scrappers here. Glad to have you here with us!

Hi Melanie! And very welcome to this group! All the folks here are very friendly and helpful and you will feel at home in no time. I enjoyed reading about your falling pregnant after giving up! Aint life just grand?

a good friend is a life long treasure

About an hour, maybe 45 min south of Valdosta. I have lived all over FL though. I know where Tifton is. As long as you are on I10, or I75 you drive right through Lake City.

Welcome here! This is a great group, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Barb:o)

Yes, we call him Kade. His name is Jonathan Kaedmon (His daddy's name is Jonathan Kevin - so when we named him - we named him after his daddy and our favorite music group Caedmon's Call - but changed the C to K in Kaedmon; then just called him Kade.).

I love the name! My daughter's name is Kamryn. Most people will automatically spell it Cameron but I like the spelling I chose.
