The Bead Quilt

Hey all,

Not sure how much each of you knows or remembers about the Bead Quilt project that was started after the 9/11 attacks. Here is some info:

It is a beautiful project and one that still brings me to tears just thinking about it.

The quilt, along with Andrea Adams (the originator of the idea) and Rosa Myers (it's guardian) have been invited to exhibit the quilt in NY this coming September 11th.

Here is a message from Andrea: We were recently contacted by "Voices of September 11th", an advocacy group that provides support to the families of 9/11 victims (

They invited us to exhibit the Bead Quilts at their upcoming conference in New York City on September 10th & 11th, 2006. This will be the 5th anniversary of 9/11, and we could not ask for a more appropriate location or audience! In addition, this exhibit offers a chance to connect with like minded individuals and organizations who may be able to help us accomplish our original goal of getting the quilts on permanent display. This is a very exciting and important exhibit ... but we'll need your help to make it happen. Please consider making a donation to support this effort. Obviously, money helps -- additional ways to contribute include frequent flyer miles (we have milage plans with Southwest Airlines and Alaska Air) and gas cards (the quilts will be driven from CA to NY).

Questions and paypal donations can be emailed to: snipped-for-privacy@comcast.net Snail mail: The Bead Quilt Project PO Box 55937 Shoreline, WA 98155 Attn: Andrea Adams

So....got an extra dollar or twenty you can spare to help get the Quilt to NY for this wonderful event? It's a good thing!

Thanks, Beki
