Not OT outta here

I am leaving in a few minutes for a treat/retreat at my favorite quilting place - The Creation Station in Buellton.

Guess it is a statement when I took most of yesterday deciding on projects/fabric, but took only a half hour to pack clothes and essentials.

It is fairly sure that there will be no stash raid. But if you do stop by, and you run acrost my good fabric scissors, please let me know by leaving them where I will find them easily when I get back. And the black Kona cotton I need, that I bought for the shop challenge, and a specific pattern that I placed where I wouldn't lose it, and now can't find it. Sigh.....

Ginger in CA now, you'all be good, okay?

The only way that my good fabric scissors turned up was when I decided I'd just have to replace them. We get a good deal on Gingher's scissors thru Adult Ed, so I placed my order & the very next day, found the scissors. I even had time to revise my order! So there - buy a new pair, keep the receipt & the old ones are sure to turn up:)

Well, I'm back, and tired. Left here, was on the road and arrived there at 7:30AM. I was #6 in line to have it open at 8AM. Set up and started sewing, went to 10:30PM, with about 1/5 hr break total [off to check in a motel and later to do the potluck dinner]. Typically I am the one who gets a key to the joint since I am the early bird. This time no different. Saturday was 5:30AM to 10PM sewing, with about 2 hours break total all day. Today was 5:30AM to 2PM, about half hour break. Pack and drive home.

  1. I did five [count 'em!] of those flannel should shawls that was posted a while back. My notes: It calls for a 16" x WOF piece cut times two for each material. Use 20" instead. Gives better coverage. No need to do the first seam sine you are just cutting that off, anyways! I used flannel on both sides for them all, and will be sending these off as prezzies for the holidays. They were really simple, I did first one to figure out any issues, then the next four in production line with no problems. Don't forget to de-flannel fuzz your machine afterwards.

  1. A great BIG BIG thank you to a lurker on this group [she knows who she is!] She sent me a bobbin case, shuttle, and trace for my Kenmore named Joe. Joe sewed up a storm all weekend without a whimper. It was so great. I am inlove with this machine!

  2. Obviously no one found my scissors, or Kona fabric, or pattern. Hmm, did you just not look or did you take them with you? ;)

Well, the pattern is probably under Kathyl's cutting mat! Sorry Kathyl, I know you can't get up and look; but just wanted to make you smile >g<

Sounds like an exhausting time Ginger. Tired wouldn't quite be enough to describe me, if I went on a 'bender' like that! . In message , Ginger in CA writes

LOL. For all I know, it might be there! I haven't been in my sewing room for several weeks now. I may have to send a family member down there to retrieve some little gifts I'd purchased for my quilting group's Christmas party that is this Wednesday. I won't be able to attend.....and I missed last year too! I hope they don't throw me out! So I'll have someone check under the mat just to make sure. :-) Thanks for the giggle Pat.

Well, as you can see by my post, I was pretty tired and made quite a few spelling errors. ;) That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

The shop had run out of the Kona black, otherwise I was going to start my shop challenge. Details to follow.

These retreats have a tendency to work like that on me, sewing like a mad woman. I would really like to move back to that area [it's where I moved from 6 years ago]. The classroom/retreat center has wonderful lighting, the walls are lined partially with mirrors to bounce even more light around. There simply is "not a bad seat in the house"!

I took more projects than I had time for, but that is normal. There seemd to be a recurring theme with many working on projects using batik fabrics.

It was heartbreaking to hear that two of the area's quilters lost their houses in the Tea Fire, near Santa Barbara a few weeks back. One was at the guild meeting and got a call, she had 10 minutes to get out what she could. The other one was out of the area on vacation. Both lost their entire quilting studios, one a 1200 sq foot professionally designed and built attached unit. How sad.

I have this week off, planning on re-vamping my sewing area!
