When we knew we were moving to Iowa from Arizona, we made a quick trip to the Grand Canyon with our kids so they wouldn't have to be embarassed to admit they'd never seen it. If we hadn't moved...I'm not sure how long it would have been before we got up there!
We visited there in December and I can recommend the "Behind the Scenes Tour". The building methods and whys-and-wherefores of it all are fascinating and on the tour we did you get to meet a couple of long term residents, one of which is often FLW's doctor! If you do go make sure you take your camera and that you have spare film/batteries/memory cards. I do have some WHIMs that are inspired by Taliesin West. We have also visited Fallingwater (Bear Run, PA) and it was interesting to see the similarities and differences of the two places.

To get this ON TOPIC -- my DSonIL is an architect and he is truly fascinated by anything FLW. I have several FLW window designs done in cross stitch that I hope to do for him some day. Even better, I have a book with several really lovely quilt designs! They require a lot of teensy little strips of sashing and I thought I would use the stuff made for doing stained glass designs. Makes sense because the designs are supposed to look like some of the FLW stained glass windows -- LOL! Now, to actually make time to do one of the designs is the challenge :-). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I have that book too! But I've never made anything out of it. I'm not sure I could keep all those strips straight.
So, when is your next PLANNED trip out here? We'll have to plan on being together a bit longer this go round : )
