OT Kiwee toolbar from Webshots--Help!

Unbeknownst to me, Webshots decided I needed a Kiwee toolbar. Webshots keeps asking me if I want to update my Webshots program. I've said no for days, but got the toolbar on both my Firefox and Explorer browswers anyway. At first, I didn't even know the darn thing came from Webshots, but a little research revealed the culprit. Anyway, if I try to delete the Kiwee toolbar by traditional means through add/remove program, it just comes back when Webshots fires up. So, I decided to delete Webshots--but no, it won't delete; it just reloads the freakin' Kiwee toolbar--which is screwing up my Firefox browser.

Any suggestions?

Here are some options, some of which you might have already done. Apparently it is also some sort of Malware, which can be dangerous. I have Malwarebytes on my machine which I run weekly. The other option is if you have Norton GoBack, you could always go back to a time before the problem. The only thing about that is that you would lose things you've done in the intervening time.

Hope one of these helps.

To uninstall the Kiwee Toolbar simply follow these steps:

Option #1

1) Open the Windows Control Panel 2) Select "Add / Remove Programs" 3) Select the Kiwee Toolbar from the list of installed applications 4) Click on the "Remove" button 5) Once the Kiwee Toolbar Uninstaller launches, follow the on screen prompts

Option #2

1) Open your Internet Explorer 2) Select the "Settings" menu 3) Select the "About the Kiwee Toolbar" submenu 4) Select the "Uninstall" button 5) Once the Kiwee Toolbar Uninstaller launches, follow the on screen prompts

To uninstall the KIWEE Toolbar:

  1. Download and install UNLOCKER

  1. Locate the Kiwee Toolbar folder, usually C/:PROGRAM FILES/KIWEE TOOLBAR

  2. Right Click on the Kiwee Toolbar folder, click UNLOCKER on the Menu.

  1. Select DELETE. Follow any on-screen instructions.

(Note if it opens with a menu of Objects in it similar to the task menu select the kiwee.exe file a and hit the kill process button below)

  1. Reboot if required and your Kiwee toolbar will be gone.

If download link about didn't work go here!

Thanks Steven,

I've already tried 1 & 2, and like Jeanne says, some people have found unlocker to be a problem too. Sigh.

found one that says to restore the system to a previous date when it wasnt there. tho you will lose anything else done on the computer in that time. you could mail anything to your yahoo addy first. i didnt see any issues on any sites i've read bout it all this morning about getting into emails, dont quote me on that tho. sorry bout my first reaction and sending emails. i just like to be safe on that issue til i have time to check and that was my initial reaction, of course.

so email, then restore to previous date, then check your registry to be sure you're clear. still looking. j.

This is another reason I left webshots and won't go back to look at anything posted there. They are a bad site, in my estimation. John
