OT - My new family...

After licking out the stitches from where she was spayed, I'm tempted to call the ginger cat Teflon. I tried to put a bit of porous medical tape over the incision, and that only lasted about 5 seconds.... each time I tried. I took her into the vet today, and it was stitched up again, and a lampshade was placed round her neck. That only stayed on because the cat was high on drugs. When I got home from work a very triumphant ginger cat showed me where the evil lampshade had been discarded. I suddenly felt 10 times more tired than I had when I arrived home. Three rounds with the lampshade later, I give up. If she licks them out again, I'll just have real ones put in, then snipped out whenever real stitches are removed. She sure is determined to have her own way! I feel she should be named Boudica or something that means "will of iron" in cat-speak. As it is, the poor dears were named Do-do (the black/white one), and Tigr (the ginger one) and apparently came to those names. I have decided that, due to the white and orange flowers I have blooming in my garden.... their new names are Daisy and Poppy. Daisy already comes to her new name.. Poppy still thinks I'm coming after her with that lampshade thing.

Yours,

This is amazing Jo! My second pair of guinea pigs were called Daisy and Poppy (Poppy sadly died last week, but Daisy is going strong). . In message , Johanna Gibson writes

Awww .... Boudica would have been SUCH a cool name! Sounds as though it was apt, too! :)

I can just imagine that poor puss running away from all the lamps in the house! :)

Congrats on your new family members! :)

I knew the ginger cat had a mischievous look in her eye. She's going to keep you on your toes, I'm sure. So - are they both females? Did Daisy get spayed/neutered as well? Is he/she handling it a little more gracefully than Poppy?

here is a hint try using the Neosporin or the store brand but the one with out pain relief. The cats do not like the taste so they wont lick it, the side benefit is it helps them heal faster. Had to do this with two of my little girls the third just left the last sititch in till we took her to the vet to get them out. That is she had them till we put her in the cage and the fliped her over to cut them out.

Too funny! I believe it was Robert Heinlein who said, "Never try to outstubborn a cat." Sounds like you have met your match, Johanna.
