OT: New 7 Wonders

Did anyone see the show announcing the New 7 Wonders of the World? I'm kinda disappointed the Statues on Easter Island didn't make it, but...... it was a vote, so the new ones made it, fair and square.

1) Chichanitza, Mexico 2) Christ Redeemer, Brazil 3) Taj Mahal, India 4) Machu Picchu, Peru 5) The Great Wall, China 6) The Roman Colosseum, Italy 7) Petra, Jordan

I've been to two of those - Chichen Itza and The Colosseum in Rome. Would be nice to see the other 5 sometime too! Morag

Here are some pictures that Time Magazine posted. I am impressed with them all and wish I could go and visit at least one sometime.

what is amazing is that those are *all* man-made wonders. When the Grand Canyon doesn't make it to a "wonders" list you know there is "something interesting" going on.

I remember when there used to be a "7 W> Did anyone see the show announcing the New 7 Wonders of the World? I'm

I think the pyramids of Giza, the Panama Canal, and the Chunnel should easily rank above a few of those. What a rip-off. :P

I have to agree with you on the pyramids of Giza, John. I'm really surprised they didn't "make the cut".

I've also been to two of them: the Roman Colosseum and the Great Wall. It's no wonder that they were included, but I'd love to see some of the others, too.

Well, "they" did say it was the NEW 7 Wonders of the World. I'm not sure that matters much to my way of thinking -- LOL! I object more to the fact that they didn't specify natural or man made but at least all 7 places are man made. Nothing man can make will ever equal the beauty of the Grand Canyon, the Rocky Mtns, Mt. Everest, the Gobi Desert, just to mention a few! CiaoMeow >^;;^<
