OT Video wars

This past weekend was Mundimas. Our secondary Christmas celebrated with DD2 who won't ever be able to get any holidays off just due to the nature of her job.

Part of this annual holiday is the game of video oneupmanship played mostly amongst the males in the house. This year I beat them all in the music catagory, though DH says I cheated. Admitedly, if it were not for the fact That I was the only girl it might have been tougher.

They tossed these literal vids out and asked me to say which was cooler:

You deserved to win; yours was som more subtle.

It took me to the very end to realise it was a spoof of another Bonnie Tyler song.

Excellent. Thanks for sharing...

OK I got asked, and I am going to post my response instead of emailing back.

Lordi is a real band. They are a Kiss inspired metal confection from Finland. They won the 2006 Eurovision competition with a ditty entitled "Hard Rock Hallelujah"

I discovered them when in another usenet group I was gripeing about DD3 playing two songs on repeat, Wishmaster by Nightwish and Shock Treatment the theme from the movie. In the course of my gripeing I inquired as to whether the best course of action would be to shoot Richard O'Brian (the guy who wrote Rocky Horror and Shock Treatment), or to nuke Finland (where Nightwish is from). It was pointed out that shooting Richard O'Brian would cause his music to be played _everywhere_. I was also asked not to nuke Finland because they brought us Lordi. So I had to check them out. Every male within earshot immediately gravitated to my computer screen and startd headbanging. I had to cower in my chair to avoid a concussion.

I don't think they know Jim Steinman. (G)
