OT way OT rain!

This morning I woke up to the sound of real rain falling. Real wet the ground and water the newly planted strawberry patch rain!

Year to date rain (since july 1) has been .17 officially. Normal is 5.6. We don't get much here anyway, it is the desert after all but some is kind of nice.

It is a wonderful thing!

Where is "here" Taria?

We still have snow on our frozen ground. Although we've had several days of bright sunshine -- today is a typical Michigan gray day.

I'm in Victorville. We moved back up here from San Bernardino last fall. I grew up in Yorba Linda and Mission Viejo and then lived in San Diego for 9 years after I married. I'm still wonder how I ended up in the desert but I have learned to enjoy it a lot. I don't know much about cold climate living. When I moved to the desert I didn't even own a warm coat!

Where in LA are you Debi? The Debbi with 2 'b's is in Laguna Niguel and Teri is in Mission Viejo. Ginger is over in Ventura. Butterfly left us. There aren't very many of us So. Cal. gals hanging out here. Taria

That's funny, I have a cousin in Lakewood. Uncle, aunt and grandparents in Long Beach are all gone now but we spent a lot of time there as kids. Too much time in the last few years at the big catholic cemetary in LB (can't remember the name though) I think Debbi hangs out at Leah's. SHe was talking about moving. Where is she hiding? Taria

Howdy!

Glad you like your climate(s), T.

I couldn't live without more rain, green growing land, some cold thrown in to help me recover from our horrid summers. "Spoiled" is having what we like. ;-)

M-i-l in El Paso: But it's a DRY heat. R/S: So is an oven but I don't want to bake in there, either. ;-D

Not use to that 0-- let alone the sound of something hitting on it in the middle of the night. had a few more sprinkles when we were outside talking with the neighbor--didn't even move into the garage before it was on its way....been cloudy since

I do go to Material Possession. I like Leah's and Moore's better though. They both have much friendlier staff.

Didn't get the job. Have been bogged down with life-- looking for a job, and chairing a major fund raiser on March 10 for the prevention of child abuse. Have to photo my donation quilt so everyone call see it.

I was just a Leah's yesterday. We have a group from the guild putting together quilts for the Wounded Warrior's Center at Camp Pendalton. We were able to finish 2 quilt tops yesterday!

San Diego filled up with what they called 'zonies' in August. You need to stay long enough so you can settle in. So glad you are doing better. Taria

I have a Zonie friend who has been going to San Diego in August for almost

25 years! I never did get into that scene when I lived there. My friends said the supermarket in La Hoya was like going to Smitty's in Scottsdale...you knew a lot of people! KJ

Debbi,

I would LOVE to know where Leah's and Moore's is. can you send me the addys privately? I'd really appreciate it! I don't like the people at Material Possessions either. I called there yesterday to ask if they had something, it's about a 30 mile drive for me to there. They were SO RUDE. I was like.. NEVERMIND. CLICK!!

Hey, we may have to get a So Cal Ladies on the Loose gathering set up! Years ago Linda Campbell (she of SF fame), Karen Johnson (used to be in Woodland Hills) would try to get together in a central location. That morphed into MeSue (bless her soul!), TwinMom, Hobo Karen, Mz Flutterby, BigBearLady, Debbie in SoCal, Jeanbaby, and a few I can't remember names - sorry, y'all - aiming for meet-up when we could.

Let's see, the Glendale Quilt Guild show is coming up in March, about five weeks out, at the Burbank Hilton. Dare we try?

Oh, and Debbie, I lived 17 years in LA before moving out of there in '98. Torrance/San Pedro/Cypress/Inglewood areas!
