All right!! We got photo pages, blog pages, and longarm quilter pages!! What have I missed? What doesn't work? What did I misspell? -- Be my second pair of eyes, please.

Now I want to find a cutesy little graphic for each page. That way you can glance and know which page it is. Like a camera for the photo page. Wonder what will happen when I search for "longarm" in Microsoft Clip Art.

Making this has been great "therapy" for me. I've had a wacky 7 days!

Hope you have better luck with the M. Clip Art than I did this morning. It refused to search, in fact it refused to give me anything.

Did give me the 'help' page, but that didn't include how to resolve being totally on strike!!

That is excellent Kay. Thank you *very* much for doing this. I do have a general family website, but I am shortly going to set up my own, quilting only website. I'll let you know about that when I have done it!

I can't believe how! but am very glad you have enjoyed doing this. . In message , Kay Ahr writes

History of my website-making fun --

Years ago in 1982, I was required to introduce computers to my math classes. ME -- the one who hadn't been near a computer, was afraid of them, and could never find the "on" switch! I got hooked. Intending to go back to teaching with a new endorsement on my Virginia teaching license, I quit teaching in

1994 to go back to school and learn Computer Information Systems.

Then got hired by a tiny Internet start-up and network training company. The Internet was just becoming popular. The owner said, "Kay, I'm not sure what this HTML is, but I want you to find out and develop a course that we can offer commercially." We were one of two companies in the Washington DC area to offer such a course. That company went bankrupt, but I still enjoyed HTML. (The owner has become a famous CISCO trainer and book-writer.) Eventually went to work as an IT person for EDS in Washington DC.

Moved to Indianapolis in 1998 and took webpage design classes as part of a degree program in Purdue's College of Engineering and Technology. Moved to Reno and went back to public school teaching. No more computer work until

2004 when I got to teach in a computer lab. The school district offered classes about webpage design, so I got to update my skills. (And teach my middle school students how to make their own webpages.)

Volunteered to make a webpage for my quilting guild

Lots of those ladies are anti-technology, so I decided not to deal with that hassle anymore! But I missed doing webpages. So now came this opportunity! And I ran with it! I'm just a computer geek in math-teacher's clothing! My next step? Learning FLASH and trying to get back to teaching in a computer lab next year.

Just let me know what to put there -- name, website, email address, anything you want to say about your specialty. I'm keeping track in an Excel spreadsheet, then I copy and paste into the HTML at Geocities. Takes me about 5 minutes or less, assuming I've had enough coffee!

Thank you so much for doing this! You motivated me to go into my own site and update it so that it includes my newest quilting efforts, and that has needed to be done for quite a while. Good job!

Ooooh, I didn't think of searching Google! See -- I haven't had enough coffee!

I really should go to the sewing machine and make some blocks today. I might stop the website stuff until tomorrow. It's as addicting as quilting!

Thanks, Jeanne!

Fantastic job!!!!!!! BTW I have a link on my site that teaches you how to use HTML to use for your website if you're a newbie. (That's the language I use to make my site)

Thanks for the link to the HTML tutorial. If I ever get back to teaching in a computer lab, I could probably use that as a link for students. My middle school students loved the Lisa site about HTML for Kids. Some of them actually got into JavaScript.

I still have the materials that I used when I developed the HTML course back in the 90's. HTML hasn't changed too much. and frames are not so popular anymore. I started to create an advanced HTML course back then just as the company was going bankrupt. Cascading Style Sheets didn't come about until much later. I learned CSS so long ago and never used it -- but I know CSS would save me a lot of time.

I still have my Jacob Nielsen book on Designing Web Usability from 2000! I should look for an update!

And I'm naughty -- I don't test my websites in all browsers and at all monitor resolutions anymore. but I'm just doing this for fun now.

Well all I can say is that I respect your tenacity and am just amazed that it can be enjoyed >gg< Personally, I am terrified by most of it! It's going to be a great boon to us as a group.

I've just checked the list of homepages, and I notice that Teri isn't included there. Now, she has the pictures of all our Hug quilts; but she hasn't been posting much lately. I wonder, if there is someone who is in touch with her, could she be asked to give Kay details of her site. She also has quilts of her own, and - I think? - her son. I know there are many still not included, but I would love to see the Hugs there. . In message , Kay Ahr writes
