Can you alter the needle position at all? You might have to compromise on the convenience of the foot to have the needle positioned so the fabric is well placed on the feed dogs. Feeding differently on one side to the other is a recipe for curved seams!

THERE YOU GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't see any adjustments for the new foot where it can be moved over just a wee tad. If it was over even a "fuzz" it would clear the feed dogs. It covers part of one now. I'll play with it later tonight and see if something can be adjusted. If it can't be moved, then I'll have to learn to compensate for it.

Feet can't be moved- generally- but often the needle can be moved. On many machines you can use the adjustment for the width of the zig-zag. That's even when you are sewing a straight stitch you can use the zig-zag width adjustment to move the needle to one side or the other.

No. This machine doesn't have a needle you can do that with. I can't see how it could be done. It looks like I'll have to learn to compensate for the less than total traction with the right side feed dog. I redid the Lighthouse block today and it's as near perfect as I can get it using this machine. :^)
