PP help please

I have a question for all you pp aficionados out there. I am a neophyte and I thought pp was an answer to many of my dilemas, however I tried to pp a piece with a curved line and guess what, the curve turned out wonky! Can a curve be pp or only straight lines?

There is a book which showed PP using curves, but you have to accept (and treat as part of the design) that the curves will all have pleats/tucks. You can PP using curves, but *only* if the curves are the outer edges. For ordinary FPP, the sewing lines must be straight. In the piece you are trying to do: if you can FPP in sections, and make the curved line an outermost edge of a section, you might well be able to do it. FPP in sections is a bit more fiddly, but is certainly possible. I would recommend that you do *not* include a seam allowance on the paper - add it afterwards by cutting a quarter of an inch away from the paper. It is quite tricky to join sections accurately if the feed dogs and presser foot are liable to skid on paper. It is also awkward (and, for me impossible) to keep the joining accurate, if you have to pin through paper - it makes quite a large distortion. HTH . In message , Boca Jan writes
