re: peach of a birthday squishie [well, from the peach state]

A belated thanks to Carole, Waleska, GA for a wondeful green squishie which will probably go into a priest's quilted stole in August during the liturgical arts porgram at Kanuga, south of ashville, nc. And though I am a native of Georgia, I had to go to mapquest to locate Waleska: north of Atlanta off GA400 which now has a modern name of I585 and which leads from atlanta to a wonderfully large outlet center on the way to cleveland and helen.

Thanks very much

Sorry to be so long to thank but in this house, after some evidence of little critters eating on my wife's coat, fabric and yarn which just appears (meaning something which is accorded to me) goes to the freezer for quarentine before I am allowed to put it in any other room or use. Think: Swedish Housekeeping Rules! Note rules may be a noun or a verb; usually both.

Please tell me about quilted stoles!! My DH is a minister, and is always interested in having me make him a new stole!! If you think it is too specific for the ng, email me privately is fine.

I've made one, but it wasn't quilted, just appliquéd. Pictures and a brief description about 2/3 of the way down at You can click on the photos for a larger view. I designed the appliqué, and the pattern for the stole came from "Fabric Appliquéd for Worship" by Rebecca Jerdee (Augsburg Publishing House, c1982, ISBN 3-8066-1965-1) Amazon.com has several used copies available for reasonable prices.

I belong to [and mostly lurk on] a group called Churchsew: several of the ladies and gentlement there make stoles and other liturgical linens, including some pieced and quilted ones. Check out their website for some inspiration:
