Rudolph, the Red Nosed Sewing Machine Cover

I thought I would have some fun with the latest sewing machine cover. This one is for the Bernina 1008 and is made from the fabric I used, making my wife's lap quilt. The extension, covered in the lining fabric, encases the hand wheel. I could have made the whole cover bigger so as to accommodate the hand wheel, but I like tightly fitted covers, and thought it would be fun to show how close fitting you could make a sewing machine cover. Anyway, if you don't like the name Rudolph, then call it Hellboy 3.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the benefit of a snug fitting SM cover - unless you're anticipating a typhoon or a visit from a teething Labrador. My SMs stay loaded and ready to go. Why would I put a girdle on them? Polly

I just like the clean and taut lines, and not the sloppy mu-mu look. Kind of like a fitted, finely made shirt as opposed to a sweatshirt. Both are clothing, but one might be a bit more fashionable. Just the fashionista in me, I guess.

You certainly are a busy, busy boy John. I'm still kind of confused about not using a girdle for a muumuu. Actually I'm confused a lot lately but I've learned to enjoy it. My machines frolic nekkid, at times even I frolic nekkid. I really don't want anything fitting tightly unless there's sequins and long feather boas involved. Perhaps a little Clearasil on that red bump might clear things up for Polly ;)

It is not so tight as to preclude easy on/off process. It just goes on and fits closely. I have been exploring the three dimensional nature of quilting of late and find it very creative. Sculptural, in a way. Probably the furniture maker in me. There are far more challenges in making a three dimensional figure than a flat 2 dimensional quilt. Making one that fits "just so" is even more of a challenge, and I love to challenge myself. The red knob cover is just a bit of whimsy.
