Stack & Whack / Kaleidescope Quilts

To make a crib sized quilt --- how many yards (approximately) of fabric (or repeats) would you need? I know you need to count repeats -- and that the distance can vary from fabric to fabric. But to do a 6 or 8 pointed star.... can you give me a rough estimate?

I have a few things in the stash -- and wonder if they might work.

Thanks

A six-pointed star takes 6 repeats and an eight-pointed star takes 8 repeats. If the repeats are 12", you would need at least 2 yards for the six-pointed star and 2-2/3 yards for the 8-pointed star. If the repeats are 18", you would need 3 yards and 4 yards, respectively. Allow extra if you want to use the same fabric for the borders.
