Thank you, cyber quilters, I love you!!

I just wanted to thank those of you who posted messages about which way to orient the seam allowances under the presser foot so that the seams match up without shifting. I was going crazy last week with flying geese units that kept shifting apart when I stitched them, and I'd rip the stitches out, redo the seams, flip them open and invariably shout expletives when I discovered they had shifted apart AGAIN! I got so frustrated about it that I ended up storming out of the sewing room and didn't go back for a few days, until I read your wonderful explanations and suggestions. Tried it out with the top seam allowance sticking up toward the presser foot as advised, and got much, much better results. Hooray!!! :-) Thanks so much for the help!

tried this and the first time i made 150 of them in one weekend, all by myself. they all turned out great. any size you want to make are easy to work out with the formula too. so have you got pix of your flying geese somewhere yet? cheers, jeanne

I have a pattern sheet that shows you how to do flying geese with only squares. The only way that I do them know. It is sooooo easy and there are several sizes on the pattern sheet. I will look for it this weekend. I think that I am going to add a pattern page to my web site so that I can just post things there for people to download. I will let you know when I find it so you can look at it if you want to.

Way to go on the success as well.

That's a really great (for us) idea to have a pattern page on your website, Steve. Thanks ever so much, in advance. . In message , steve writes

What a great site....makes it look easy. I hate triangles. But now I will attempt to make flying geese.

oops, backtracking to check what i've still got on the window, too much so thot i'd best rid meself of most of them then found this one. they really are easy to do this way and can be assembly line hundreds as required. i just cut til tired of cutting, then sew til tired of sewing, then press til tired of pressing and continue in this way til i've got all the lovely little wee flying honkers my heart desires. oh, i mean flying geese, of course, silly me. hope they all go as easily and perfectly for you, Marie good luck, jeanne
