Thank you Leslie

I just put 12 blocks together wrong. Yes. 12. Yes. Wrong. Thanks to Leslie, I had a lint remover thing on ready. Don't know how many names they're called by but I mean the wand with a wide roll of sticky masking tape that's sticky side out. While I was beginning the brief pity party, I was able to roll the wand over all the un-stitching and pick up the little snips of thread. Quickly. Easily. It didn't make me any smarter. Pity Party anyone? I have good refreshments. Polly

Oh Polly -- I'm so sorry you had to spend so much time UN-sewing.... but now you'll move forward!

Just don't do what I have done... sewn them wrong -- rip them out -- then sew them wrong again!

Sometimes, I'm a slow learner...

I'm sure you are smarter than I!!

Polly, I think if I was backwards stitching 12 blocks I'd be calling all my equipment names that aren't printable in a family oriented newsgroup. Now the hard question: did you put the blocks to each other wrong or did you assemble each block wrong? I would not be happy with the first possibility, but the second ..... omygoodness I would NOT be happy. My little sewing room would have blue air.

Hope you treated yourself to some kind of solace after the unstitching was done.

Hugs, Sunny

Isn't it our Kate D who has a not very bright kitty named 'Corn Flake' ? That's about how smart I am. Polly

Nay. Leslie didn't very carefully pin my starpoints in upside down. She just recommended the sticky wand for all sorts of stitching mayhem. It's really great for Minkee survival. Polly

Sunny, I put the blocks together - very carefully and perfectly wrong;

8-pointed stars all pointed in - but very nicely if I do say so myself. Polly

Turning them sideways was my first hope, Roberta, but it didn't work. I even considered inside-out; nope. Don't know about that battery-powered duster. You'll think of something. Polly

"Roberta" Couldn't you just have turned it sideways? No, probably not.

Call it artistic license and go on with it! If everything is pointed in, call it an imploded star ;))

I'm with Ginger. Just call it a new block, give it a cute name and there you go -- a brand new design.

What a good idea! I hate picking all of those little thread bits off of my work when I've had to unsew something! Now my lint roller thingy will moonlight with a second job. :)

Reminds me of the Guest speaker we had at our guild a few months ago ..... Jodi Barrows of Square in a Square fame. She said if she sews something together wrong she either leaves it aside to cut smaller and use for something else or uses it anyway if it is possible.

She believes that sewing something together, ripping it apart and sewing it back together again is like ...... wait for it..... marrying the same man twice! LOL!!!!

She also says we don't have stashes, we have,...... Fabric Libraries :)

If mankind was meant to be perfect, then the seam ripper would never have been invented.

Polly, you are most welcome! Did you get the industrial strength one from the dry cleaning supplier?

No. Mine's not the industrial from dry cleaning supplier. We were in the store that does serious going out of business and fire sales - the 'Buzzard Store' our preacher calls it - and came across a pile of lint wands that are (unfortunately) coated with Febreeze. That stuff pretty much gags me but the wand sure did make quick work of grabbing tiny snips of thread. I sure was grateful that you'd mentioned the sticky wand. I keep one beside my SM so I can leave the area without trailing threads and clipped little bits. Polly

Oooh yes! And you had to type the stencils with no ribbon in the typewriter. Now I am recalling the smell in the house when my father was running off exam papers on the ink duplicator machine. Can you imagine what would be said these days if a room full of kids was given a stack of papers smelling like that?
