The photography is my usual average (or below) quality. At least I don't claim to have any skills in that department. I hve two more projects awaiting binding. And one might need some beading. Maybe by the weekend they can join the "F" pile too!

I agree with Carissa. Beautiful work! Gorgeous vibrant colours. A real treat. Thank you for sharing and well done getting something finished. Elly

Thanks. It was one of those "I don't want to think" projects. It was basically tracing, cutting, and glueing. In fact, when I started pulling fabric for the project, I found I had virtually the same fabrics in my stash. So....still no thinking! That just suits me sometimes. The pattern is called Sunset Melody and is by Anita Bradshaw.

You'll see, I didn't have to do any planning....just sewing. I think I might try it again in another color combination sometime. It is fun to do and looks nice when finished.

That "finished" part is the most difficult for me! Thanks!

Tell us about 'Sunset Melody'. I mean tell us All about it. How was the delirious background accomplished? and where did the design come from and how did you do the appliqué and was it difficult? You know. Just 500 words or more will do just fine. That calls me. Polly

It's pretty easy Polly. The background is a batik...probably one of the triple dyes...a commercial one. The black is cut from all one piece and then the other pieces are fused on top of the black. Then the black piece with the cut outs and other fabrics is fused on top of the background piece. I then did a small applique zig zag around everything with a raw edge. I didn't do a really tight satin stitch. Sharp scissors and patience are the most important tools in this project.

the quilting is just an echo stitch I did with my walking foot. Confession time.....no label or hanging sleeve yet....so maybe I jumped the "finished" designation a bit.

Well done, Kathyl! You did it >g< I really like Sunset Melody; and the curvy squares is very clever - I love the combination of curves. So, what's wrong with the photography? Can't see it myself! . In message , KJ writes

When I open the curvy squares one bigger, it seems blurry. Or maybe I need to put on my glasses. The close up on that seems crisp and clear. The curvy squares is a free form cutting of two stacked squares. Then the pieces are swapped and stitched back together. The remnants of the squaring up process are the border pieces.

I like the way it makes you feel it's musical without any definitive music motif. Is it a clef? no, not really. Is it a staff? not really. a trombone slide?

Ah well, that's why then. I don't even know how to make it larger >gg< . In message , KJ writes

All I can say is "Wow!" Your quilts are stunning! Happy dancing for you in a drab dreary but oh-so-cool central MA.
