UK Quilters: fabric up for grabs

Dear All,

Through a friend I have been offered some fabric. It consists of one sack (trash bag) of mostly tweed and velvet and one of mostly cotton. The fabric is currently in Glasgow. It has sat around for about 20 years. I haven't seen it, so take no responsibility for state or fabric content.

Now, I know I won't use the tweed/velvet. But I'd really like to look through the cottons.

Anyone in or around Glasgow who would like the tweed/velvet?

Or around Coventry (where I will be beg. of July)?

Alternatively, do any of you know of charity sewing circles where this could be dropped of?

Options I didn't think of?

Thanks, Hanne

Are these lumps of fabrics, or scraps? If they are fat quarter-ish sizes, I could make very good use of them, but not much smaller. I could have them picked up in Cov (have friends in Kenilworth).

I have no idea, and won't know until I see them. But I totally understand about size. I'll keep you in mind!

I often take excess fabrics - upholstery, towelling, velvet, brocade, etc - to the charity shops near the local art college, after the staff told me that the students are always in need of materials. I also have been known to give patterns, books and fabric pieces to the local Barnardos because I used to volunteer there and know that they have a craft section where that sort of stuff sells. Could you do that?
