2peas

I know I've complained about this before, but does anyone else here think the 2peas site is the slooooowest site on the web. Not just right now, but

*always*. It is so frustrating because I know they have good resources, I just don't have the patience to wait for a page to load. And no, it's not my system, I have high speed internet and every other site pops right up. Drives me crazy.

I just visited their site to day to look at some cards and I MUST agree - It is slow and I also have high-speed internet. Wonder why it's so slow?

Any techies have any ideas?

Yes, it is slow..but mostly because it's so graphic intense I think. If they put few pics/layouts on a page it might quicken it up...

Jenn There are different levels of high speed internet. Also there are high speed internet providers that are faster than others. We tested 2 high speeds in May of last year. We had sympatico ( bell) high speed and Cogeco (cable) high speed for one month. Cogeco was way faster loading pages than sympatico, even though they are both high speed. So we called Sympatico ( bell) and asked why ....they told us for more money a month we could upgrade to a faster high speed. They have 3 levels all at different costs. We also called cogeco and asked if they have this service too, and they said yes, they have 2 levels. So we did upgrade to the highest level. I just went to 2 peas and it is very fast.

I don't think Comcast has different levels.

The thing is, I am *completely* satisfied with my Comcast service. I can surf the net with virutally no waiting for a page to d/l. It's only the

2peas site that gives me the trouble. I don't get it. Unfortunately, they have some great message boards with good discussion and product reviews, but I can't wait 30 seconds for a message to load! Weird.

Do you post there, btw?

But that doesn't explain the message boards. It takes nearly 30 seconds to for one page to load!

Never had a problem there - we have DSL and it's fairly quick. I do go to a couple of sites that are slower with message boards...

It is a little slow for me sometimes. A lot of the time it is during high traffic times like lunch time etc.

This week Jeffery (owner of 2peas) posted that this week was going to be especially slow. He was doing something with their ISP.

I don't post there much but I do read often.

Jenn,

I just tested again at 6:14 pm eastern time and it was fast for me. Maybe it was just the time of day or maybe they were working on it. Do you also clear your Temporary Internet Files? Maybe that will help - sometimes I clear mine out when sites are acting slow. Don't know if it really is helping but I was told to do it once a week so my computer doesn't slow down when it's loading pages.

Yes! I thought it was just one of those days, but I guess it's not just me after all:>)

Hopefully changing it. I've always had trouble with them. I'll check it out early next week to see if there is improvement. Thanks.

Maybe. I'll try right now after I read r.c.s.

I'll give it a try, but I would think all internet pages would be giving me trouble. Maybe it is comcast. Who knows.

I'm just glad it's not me. Another poster wrote that there was to be some type of maintainence this week.

I'll have to try it again later:>)

I have issues with it at times, but I think it's like someone said... lots of graphics. Other than that site and a stray one or two I try to get to that are high volume, most of my attempts to get to the websites are sooooo much quicker since making the move to the cable modem. I wish I hadn't waited so long! :::::::;watching football while DH is hiking with CG in Richmond's many battlefields and matthew sleeps::::::::: ahhhhhhhh... peace and quiet... Damn! I should be doing work on another group's swaps I gotta finish.

Some has to do with the size that each file that is uploaded. Last time I uploaded for my mother there wasn't a file size cap, which means I can make my scan at 300dpi about 1.5m where as someone who doesn't know how to manipulate the file size may have one that is 5m at 300dpi.

ALSO, the site is so graphic that the server has to identify all the files one there, if it is a current picture or not. I noticed the other day that my mothers are gone, so i'm assuming that they have an expiration time on each post. You are also having to fight the poor server for all the other people looking at the site, uploading and the possibility of deleting all at the same time.

I'm not sure what the server is and the hardware inside, but it's not a massive or decent server and is having issues handling the traffic. Even where I am at work the pages load slowly (for those that don't know I am on the backbone of the internet and a page for me loads in 5sec or less), which concludes the sake that if pages are coming up slowly for me, I am sorry for the person that is on dial-up. You may have to wait an hour or two per page (jk... probably more like 5-10min, depending on the intensity of the file sizes). I have DSL at home and it's chugging there also.

But there's a synopsis that I hope explains it a bit.

Thing is good servers are expensive and the bandwidth is too. Since it's a semi-free site I don't see them doing any upgrades any time soon. :(
