baby bag

Hi all! I have tried googling to find a pattern(free) for a baby bag,(became a great Aunt on Saturday) and have nearly finished the quilt, but ,thought a bag would be nice to match! Fingers crossed one of you might help. BTW the Hawaiian evening went well with then all trying to cut and make their own designs. They all said they enjoyed the evening.

Hi, I would just make a nice messenger style bag with a handle that is long (to fit over the buggy handles) Most of the commercial bags are really ugly. The only thing you really need is a changing mat (if the mum is in the UK she could sign up for Boots parenting club and she would get a load of freebies including a travel mat). I find that what you need to carry changes with the age ( full change of clothes as a newborn and as a potty training toddler, but in between just a nappy and wipes) I have 2 bags one a largish messenger and one a small bag. What has been useful has been a carribiner (sp?) clip which fastens onto the strap to hold my keys so I can find them easily.

There is one I saved awhile back, but haven't tried yet, from Freepatterns.com. The pattern has cute little babies appliquéd on it. I haven't looked it over in much detail to see what it has for pockets etc. You could maybe use the appliqués for a bag design you like, or add pockets to this one if you feel it needs some.

should show you want it looks like. If that doesn't work look in the sewing patterns section. You do have to sign up for an account if you want to download the pattern, but it is free and I don't receive (that I've noticed) any emails as a result of this account. HTH.

There are some great bags here

I have recently made the Diaper bag and then a Sha Sha Dream Bag for DD and one for myself with a flap closure

Take a look on the Bag Lady page on my web site: if you like the baby bag pattern, I'll copy it for you. :) I just made it out of whole bits, but there's no reason not to patchwork bits to fit the sizes needed. Crazy might work nicely.
