Archiving Useful Scrapping Info

Mar 08, 2005 14 Replies

Hi,

Now that we have a great "Top 5" list of good quality, recommended tools for newbies to try, is there someplace in this forum (or elsewhere) where a final edited list can be archived? Such a list could be invaluable for many people just starting up with scrapping. Some of the other forums I frequent actually have web sites with searchable archives of any useful information, tutorials, FAQs, etc. Does this group have anything like that?

Thanks, Noah

That sounds like a useful list. There are SO many adhesives it would be nice to find out which ones are liked and used more frequently. I'll start a poll and give everyone the results if you like. I'll make it a top 5 or top 10 list and rank them in order of which got the most votes. I use several different ones so it would hard to choose just one. So, send a vote in for 3 adhesives you can't live without. I'll tabulate the list. Try and use the exact name of the adhesive so that someone who's never used it would know what it's called.

Let's start with adhesives:

I use Creative Memories Tape runner, medium glue dots, and Creative Memories Photo splits

Hi Noah,

Our fearless leader M-C keeps our website

formatting link
pretty much current with the do's for newbees.

I acutally can't live without my glue stick, all sized glue/foam dots, and my xyron machines.

Hi Noah, we have a website

formatting link
where I try to snag bunches of stuff that people discuss here. You can also always got to google groups and search all the RCS messages there. Again there is a link to the google portal to out messages on the main page of our website.

Lynne, My vote is for the Creative Memories Photo Splits - what are we going to do without them????? They are not in the new catalog and the company is only going to sell the clear one from now on. I also love glue dots for embellishments and for wet adhesive I use Tombo's Mono Aqua Liquid Glue Sandy

My Top Five

  1. HermaFix Dotto (My favorite adhesive)
  2. Glue Dots (Great for securely adhering embellishments)
  3. Creative Memories Photo Splits (I have the old style, haven't seen the new clear style yet??)
  4. Sailor Glue Pen
  5. Xyron 150

WHAT?!!! No photo splits! Are the clear ones like the photo splits just clear?

Lynne

PS. I got your votes.

yes, but the package is 1/2 size and they cost the same. I contacted a dealer last week and got four boxes. She is checking with other consultants to try to find some more that they have in stock. I did find out fiskers 1,000 box fits my blue holder from CM. It feels almost the same, but not quite somehow..... Sandy

So, the new clear ones don't fit in the blue dispenser box? You're doing what I was thinking about yesterday... calling around and buying a few boxes of the old ones, so I can slowly ween myself off them. I'll have to look around for the fiskars one.

Lynne

They've already started jacking the price up on ebay. 2 boxes for $18.99. Sandy

Aha, that's exactly what I was talking about. Thanks for sharing the site URL!

Cheers, Noah

Lynne you can get the fiskars photo splits at Wal-Mart. Michaels has them too, but they are cheaper at Wal-Mart.

Thanks Cathy. I needed an excuse to go to Walmart. I was going entirely too much and now I don't go at all.
