How do you attach a fibre string from one side of page to other, and have a charm on it? Does the charm get fixed in place too?

I usually use the photo squares to attach the fiber to the back side of the page. I leave the backing on the photo squares so it is only sticky on one side.
For the charms, I have let them hang with out attaching them and I have attached them. For the charms that I have attached I used glue dots (aka snot dots) and I also have just tied a knot to keep it in place.
