I try and scrap all that are scrapable.. I let my boys use the out of focus ones or the ones that are like of a leg.. or something odd like that.. I do keep a seperate file box with all the pics i didnt scrap.. just in case.

i try to scrap enough pics to give a good idea of the event. of course i make sure to get in all the cute ones, too. but...i hardly EVER scrap all the pics of an event. when i got a digital camera, i got picture happy, and now i have tons of pics of each event. if i scrapped every one, it would take pages and pages just to get through one event sometimes. lori shay louisville

I scrap the ones that I want in the scrapbook and put the rest in a picture album with little tags with date, who, and event for future scrapping reference. It would be really cool to scrap all pics, and one day I hope to get a chance to do that.

I could never scrap all the pictures I take. I am in the camp that believes that in order to get a few good pictures each roll you need to be very generous with your film. Film is cheap in comparison to a really great shot...of course, maybe with a photography class I could get better shots all of the time, but until then...

With my extras I either give them away to family/friends or put the rest in photo boxes in chronological order. I do go back and sometimes use them for collage type pages or pages that aren't specifically event related. The other thing I do is sometimes put a bunch in a little cheapie album for my son to "read".

I scrap most of the photos -- but I don't have a problem throwing away the others or putting them in a book for my 2 year old ... (in regards to my printed photos)

Since "going digital", I take waaay more photos -- but gets prints of waaay fewer! I do keep a file of some of the ones I have no intentions of printing/scrapping, and only order prints of ones I plan to scrap..

This has been a tough call for me too. My heart has trouble letting any of them go, sometimes even the fuzzy ones. (Keeps saying to myself that scanners and software will get good enough to fix it someday, right? lol) As a result I scrap most of them and have been known to make pockets for the rest, or find a way to use them somehow. I have broken down and dumped some truely hopeless shots too though, but it hurts. lol.

Digital cameras can either be seen as a great thing or not so. I take so many pictures now that I've gone digital and even bought a dye sublimation printer based on the need to print the 'special ones' Thing is, they are almost all 'special' to me. What I intend to do with the digitals is to make pockets in the books for CDs or DVDs with all the photos saved on them. I'll scrap the ones that I think everyone will be impressed by and still have the ones that my heart can't let go too.

Not to rain on your parade, but be careful with planning on using CD/DVD's to store pictures in scrapbooks. CD-R media has an average lifespan of just 10 yrs while DVD media (the more expensive disk) can last from 70-100 years. You can read the article for yourself at:

No worries, you didn't rain, (though the weather is today lol) I did know that the DVD media lasts lots longer. I haven't actually made up any disks yet, other than for back up in regard to my puter (and they are nowhere near that old yet lol) My CD burner recently abandoned ship and I replaced it with a DVD burner so now I can store them that way, plus transfer family videos to disk as well. Of course this is yet another project for me to spend time on. Hubby got me an A to D converter so I can even transfer older tapes to disk. It's also possible to do screen grabs and get still shots from the videos. Some look pretty good with a little help from photoshop. Gotta love having all those options eh?

Thanks again for clarifying that aging dilemma.

Wow, I had no idea, thanks for sending this link to the group! I now have to consider getting a DVD recorder and moving all of my pictures from CD to it. I would have been broken hearted if in 10 years or so I would have lost all of the pictures of my baby!

THANKS!!! Lori K.
