Decorative edge scissors Q

I need to get some decorative edge scissors for kids to use for a project at summer camp. I have some at home that my nephews play with, that only cost a dollar each, but they got dull really quickly and never were that great to start with. I've seen the Fiskars ones at Michaels and they're more than a dollar each, and I've had good experiences with Fiskars products before, but I've never tried those scissors, so I was wondering if they work better than the cheaper ones.

I've seen the cheap ones 2 for a dollar, but the only Fiskars ones at my local store are at least a couple of dollars a pair.

You can go to their website and request a catalog. It comes pretty quick and then you can mail order. You can also complete an order form on their website and then print it and mail with a check. I love their paint - it's the only kind I buy for my daycare. Sandy

I would say that you probably can't go wrong with the Fiskars brand...I have heard things about cutting through wax paper to make them work smoother and also cutting through aluminum foil to sharpen them a bit. Good luck with your kid's projects!

Do you have a Costco or Sam's near you? I got my 2 sets at Costco for around $15 or so, around 15 pairs of scissors on a carousel that holds them. One of the carousels spins, the other doesn't. It is a good variety of scissors and they don't seem to get dull.

This ad is from the Sam's website (costco is down) but they are a little more expensive there--(Fiskars brand)

plus the ones I got have a double layer of scissors, not just one row, so Costco looks like it is definitely a better deal...oops, never mind, I think this is the one I got--not Fiskars, but they work just fine.

I wonder if you used tin foil to cut with the scissors you already have, if it would sharpen the scissors like punches? Wouldn't hurt to try. Too bad you don't live near me, you'd be welcome to borrow mine.

Here's a Costco link--I believe I have the generic brand, this ad is for the Kraft brand. 24 for $24, not bad.

Provo Craft sucks... everything I've ever bottom with them broke right away or didn't work like they were supposed to.

Buy the Fiskars shears... they're very good, lasting and won't break if you try to sharpen them.

If you were in Seattle I could just give you a whole bunch of them as I don't use them anymore and have at least a dozen different patterns.

I've never been a great lover of all those scissors, though I too have used them to create that old fashioned look by using them on the white edges of photos.

Cool! I'm in Atlanta, I'll be right over. ;o) kidding. I think Michaels is due for another ad with coupon this Sunday, so I'll go get them then.
