Designing paper

I remember reading here before that some people design their own patterned paper to use in scrapbooks. Does anyone here do it professionally and make money at it? I don't have the equipment to produce paper, but I do have the software to design patterns and I think I could be good at it, but I wouldn't know how to go about selling the designs to a paper company. Do companies ever buy designs from independent designers or do they always do it with in-house employees?

Hi!

I don't know for sure, but as I perused the imagination project catalog, I noticed a paper line designed by a woman who used to sell scrapbooking supplies at all day crops and by appointment from her home. Each of their lines seem to have a specific individual designer. Why don't you contact a company such as Imagination Project and ask them what is involved.

Just a thought....

People are selling digitally designed papers all over the net. Most make embellishments and frames to go with the papers but some just sell digital paper packs. People either use the papers to make digital layouts or have the papers printed at one of the print places if they want to use the paper in a traditional paper layout.

Don't know how companies go about getting their designers. I do know another option is to design digital kits. Some of the backgrounds I have seen on digital scrapbooking sites are just as detailed as paper ones and it seems an easier market to get into. Just a thought.
