Just for the record, and since Deb isn't here to explain things herself, I'd like to clarify what happened here. First, in order to be eligible to get the embellishment box a person has to be a "Regular Poster" for a minimum of
3 months. A regular poster is considered to be someone who has posted 2-3 times a week with more than a simple "TFS" (Thanks for Sharing). We consider this rule to be particularly important when it comes to the embellishment box because of all the money people spend on it. We did make a change about
18 months ago now, where we reduced the time from 6 to 3 months because we knew how anxious we all are to be able to join in all the fun when we first join. However, unlike the other swaps this is a "group swap" where the hostess must follow the minimum rules.
The way we find out if someone has been posting regularly, in order to make sure that we "are being fair" is to go to google groups, click on advanced search put rec.crafts.scrapbooks in the group field and the person's screen name in the author field. It is really important before publicly impinging someone's integrity, to make sure that we are responding to more than a hunch. In this case, Deb was right, Michelle was not eligible for the box not just because she missed the deadline but because she had not met the "regular poster" requirement which is even more important. She posted twice on Jan 3rd, 4 times on Jan 14th, twice Feb 3rd, once on Feb 7th and once on Mar 3rd. Nothing against Michelle but since she had missed the deadline and had not posted since March 3rd she simply was not eligible.
Michelle will be more than welcome by all RCSers to join in our activities, if she continues to post regularly. Before anything else comes up, let me hasten to say that if someone who has posted regularly for months and years takes a sabatical for any reason (illness, family activities, summer vacations etc) and comes back to the group, we are not as demanding for them to join the next activity as we know that in the past they completed all their previous swaps in the time allotted. We all want to have fun and for this very reason we try to keep bad things from happening to the wonderful people who make up this group. I hope this helps everyone to understand why Michelle had to wait until the box finishes this round. From what I've read, I know that Michelle does!
