Fibers

I already have all the fibers I like from fibers by the yard and I am looking for something different. Anyone know of other shops that allow you to pick your fibers out one at a time?

Unfortunately, I don't know of any sites that allow you to pick one at a time but please email me your snail mail address and a description of what you are looking for. I am headed to Expo this week and may be able to help you out.

You might try a needlepoint shop. They have small amounts of wonderful fibers. They are probably larger amounts than the fibers by the yard but there is a very large selection.

I have not used fibers yet because I don't know if there is certain kinds you should use or what. Is there any I should avoid? Will any be harmful? You guys are helping me tremendously.

I'm not looking for any particular fiber, I just like to browse and pick out ones that I find pretty. I have lots of fibers that came in sets purchased in stores and on ebay that I will probably never use. Fibers by the yard was great until I bought all the ones that I liked. ;o(

I'm guilty of shopping that way too. But usually when I buy it's by the skein so I have waaaay more than I need. I've RAK'd people with it, I've used a little of it and I've hoarded a lot of it! lol Now I'm donating some of it to the scrap box. S

I've been RAKed fiber a few times... which I greatly appreciated! For me it's great, because I wouldn't buy a whole skein of yarn. I'd be wondering what the heck would I do with all that yarn. That might be a good idea for a swap. Have say 10 people buy a different skein of yarn. Make 10 baggies of "so many" yards of said yarn and then swap. Any body game?

Sounds like fun Lynn. I have boxes and boxes of yarn that I would be willing to share.

Lynne, A fiber swap is a great idea. I know there have been a couple of them done in the past. Good Luck! S

If someone would sit and show me HOW to incorporate or use some sort of fibers on a LO, i would use it, especially since I have "acquired" a bit of it too!

As for a swap with it, I would be interested as I have bought some too (FLASS syndrome activated!) and don't know how to use it - WAH!!!

You know I don't know how I missed them. Sounds like something I'd like to do.

Dave,

I've mostly used it on tags. It really sets them off having some festival fiber folded through the hole. I did an ABC album for a friend, which I need to get back and photograph... anyhow I did a few tags with Poohism on them and the fiber looked so precious in the baby album. I imagine one could use them as you would paper and put lines of it on LO's or border a picture or some journalling. We should challenge ourselves to find ways to use more fiber.

I've wrapped them around pictures in frames on a couple of my lo's. I also use them on tags.
