FREE digital scrapboking freebies

For those digital scrappers! I came across this site today. They have some really pretty sets for FREE download! Someday I may have to get a 12x12 printer so I can take advantage of this stuff!

Hi Linda, I don't have a 12x12 printer but I am hooked on digital scrapping. I scrap in 12 x 12 and if I don't want to have it printed commercially I resize to 8 x 8 or 8.5 x 11 and print it on glossy cardstock. I use a program called Scrapbook Max (best $39.99 I ever spent on scrapping stuff) and it will automatically resize in proportion to any dimensions you want so you can print it out.

Over the last couple months I have downloaded over 20 gigs of free digital stuff and I have so much now that I forget what I have! (just like my addiction to paper scrapbook supplies LOL) I have purchased a few templates to make my own papers, tags, etc and I spent $17.95 for a month at atomic cupcake where I was able to download 30 new kits and dozens of actions for Photoshop Elements to make my own kits.

I love the look of digital elements, and I would like to be able to print them out to use for scrapping, but I have no clue how to even start learning how to use them. I have Paint Shop Pro, and Photo Shop, and dont know how to use either one! Do you have any suggestions or know of any tutorials I could check out online? Do you think taking a class at our local community college would be better? I have toyed with that idea for some time. Thanks for any info you can give me. Linda

I have PSP and PSE as well and I really didn't know how to use them either. For the most part I used Scrapbook Max because it does all the work for you but to make tags and paper and other elements I use PSP. If I want to make chipboard or inked edges of a tag or letter then I use PSE because I can use the actions I got from atomic cupcake. The actions do all the work for you, you just sit and wait and it gets busy applying this and that and when it is all finished you have what you want. For the most part if you can use the selection tool in PSP or PSE and understand that layers are just like sheets of glass stacked on top of one another then you can use templates (and there are literally thousands of them available for free). Once you can do this then you will be able to make your own templates and layouts.

I'm sure a class would be better than anything you can find online. I had signed up for an online class but they gave you homework and a time frame to complete it but I prefer to work at my own pace without deadlines and pressure. These are the ones I visit when I am trying to learn something new. The first one is really good as there is more than enough there to get you through the basics.

If you want to start digital scrapping right away and then learn as you go along I can't stress enough just how great this Scrapbook Max program is. It is the middle ground between using a simple digi program like Lifetimez and using something like PSP or PSE. The community on the SM site is very helpful and people share their templates and digi creations every day there so there is always something new. You can download the trial and everything works except if you try to print it it will have a SM trial banner on the layout. I downloaded it and bought it an hour later!
