The day after Thanksgiving is supposed to be the start of the Christmas shopping season. (Never mind that there've been decorations up since August.) It's one of the biggest shopping days of the entire year. Nearly every store has *major* sales, usually with some extra special value good only from 5 am to noon. It's notorious for major crowds, traffic jams, and the like. Radio stations like to do *parking* reports! It's called Black Friday because this is the day that retailers are supposedly out of the "red" and into the "black" (profits) for the year. It can be great fun, or a nightmare, depending on your attitude. I love it. Needless to say, my first stop on Friday will be JoAnne's, with Michael's a close second. Both have some great deals!

I didn't go near any stores this morning. I looked through the paper and didn't find anything that would make me get up early and go out in the rain. I am going to start baking my cookies for the cookie exchange though. I also put away the fall dishes and got out the Christmas dishes. I may sneak a wreath out later if I think about it.

Hope you all had a great day yesterday and will have a great day today eating Turkey sandwiches!

I couldn't be paid enough to go NEAR a mall today, but since I had to go out anyway, and had a Hobby Lobby 40% off anything coupon, of course I had to go.

It was busy, but not terrible. They had all their albums half price and for $5 each I got 4 CUTE 8x8" albums that I will use for my family recipe scrapbooks that will constitute my birthday gifts for my mom and sisters next year! LOL I also got another set of alpha stamps, some spray adhesive (for covering my next album, and a set of post extensions. I had given up even HOPING to find those! These come in a pack of about 10 sets of different lengths!

I survived the mob (since I didn't go NEAR the mall!) and came home a happy camper!)

We couldn't get near the mall, either (not that we tried!). Our local mall is between two major interstates, just north of the junction. Both of them were backed up, I don't know how far. (Not crazy enough to go look.) We had some trouble getting around the lines of cars on the main road trying to get into the mall. This was at 10:00 am. JoAnne's had some great deals and even better coupons. So did Michael's and I should've gone there first. From 6 to 9 am, they had Sidekicks for $29.00 and Sizzlet Alphas for $69.00. On top of that, they had a 25% off entire purchase coupon, good for sale items as well. I could'a had the whole thing for 75 bucks.

*Sigh* Next year I'll pay closer attention to the ads. Or get up earlier. But we still had fun, and I got to spend some (too rare!) quality time with DD. Worth the trip!
