I'm hooked on my coluzzle and Scrap Boss!

I've been playing with my new toys today and I'm really wondering why on earth it took me so long to buy them - they're both very easy to use and I'm going to have so much fun making stuff with them! I know why I held off - because every time I looked at them I thought about how much all the templates cost and how many I'd want/need to buy... but I'm sure it's going to be worth it.

This afternoon I stopped by the Rag shop and picked up a couple of pairs of cheap templates to use with the scrap boss - at 75c or a buck each, a pair is really cheap and all I have to do to use them is to punch some holes in appropriate places to peg them down. I also bought a set of new coluzzle templates on ebay this morning with some of my birthday money - thirty dollars including postage for seven different templates. Nothing fancy, just the basics and one of them is the tag template that I've already bought, but they'll give me plenty to play with :) I bid on some coluzzle alphabets too because I'd really love a couple, but I was outbid on them.

How do you use regular stencils with the scrap boss. It uses two different stencils to do the embossing? Or, are you just using them like stencils for coloring, etc. and not embossing?

Somebody gave me the tip - buy a pair of identical stencils with binder holes in one side and you can peg them into the shape boss to use. A stencil is a stencil and what's special about the fiskars ones is that they come in matched pairs and have mounting holes punched in them.

I just used a little lighthouse stencil and punched two holes in it to peg it down. It's a little tricky to get them lined up properly but once the holes are there you can emboss to your heart's content.

Of course I want to buy more 'real' fiskars ones because they work better, but this will do for a workaround...

Get it out and give it a whirl! It's very easy to use... I really don't like their 'example' pages because they're just way too much of a good thing (I don't like 'kitchen sink' pages in general) but it's great for making tags or small embellishments for a page. I just made some mini-envelopes for a swap and embossed an anchor on them with the shapeboss and a pair of cheap templates. My only problem with it now is where to store the darned thing!

I love coluzzles too! However take you tie and learn how to use the knife to keep from nicking the corners and curves.

I do not have and used any type of embossing plate. Do not know if I like that form of embellishing YEt, but would be nice to do for chalking as someone told me (MC?) as a raised surface is EASIER to color!!

Have fun and enjoy your tools, err TOYS!!!
