Ideas needed for older scrappers

Since I can't get to the Little Rock scrap party today, I've been sitting here thinking of what I can do for pages, now that my little ones are not so little any more.

I am, as time permits, going back and getting the best of my photos out of albums for scrapbook pages, but I would really like some ideas for pages from those of you who don't have children at home any more, or who are childless. I love to scrap, but am about out of ideas for pages that don't relate to kids.

Any ideas???

Thanks so much, Abby in Arkansas

We'll miss you today Abby, but we'll get together sometime! :-)

My kiddos are 6 & 3, but as for scrapping things non-child related...here's some ideas.

vacations / special trips (DH & I have taken a few weekends away for our anniversary so I plan on scrapping those....one of these days) moving (it's always an adventure! LOL) Book Of Me (I haven't done one, but there was a BOM challenge going on earlier. I'm sure someone could give you more information on the idea.)

There's also pets. I'm working on a memory album for my cat I lost in 2001.

Hope that gives you some ideas. I'm sure others can give you some more ideas.

HTH!

Hmm.. I'm trying to think of what all I have scrapbooked... and of course, all my albums are packed up right now

- Wedding

- Honeymoon

- Every day things (parties with friends, house, pets)

- Vacations

- Did a book with my baby photos

- Working on an all about me book as well

I'm sure there are more, but I just can't think of them at this point.

Hi Abby

We don't have kids, only furbabies. I only started scrapping recently, but some of the ideas I'm planning for Albums are a Christmas Album, adding LO's each passing year. A Holiday Album, also adding LO's after each vacation. One of my friends got married recently and I'm also planning a special surprise for her first wedding aniversary :)) We've been friends since we were todlers and I'm going to do an album in date format - ie pre-school, primary school, teenagers, universaty up to her wedding day. It's going to be a BIG project, but I've got 10 months to do it!

I, too, am without children at home. I was going to start back thru my old photos, but I haven't even started that. We travel in our motorhome, so I do pages of those trips. I also do pages of day outings with a friend or my husband. I did a layout this fall of the trees called "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. I'll probably do a layout of the snow this winter. Since I live in Denver, I can pretty much count on having snow days. Most of my family and DH hate to be photographed so the majority of my photos aren't even people; they are scenery, tickets, brochures, etc. I belong to a "girls' day out" group and I scrap our outings. I add a lot of journaling about how I felt at the time and funny things that happened. I figure if I don't have the photos, at least the album is "me." I have so many layouts to do that I may never get to those old photos. Of course, I'm really slow so it takes my awhile. Hope this helps. ;-)

Ancestors. Collect stories to go with what photos you have & also include interesting stories that don't have photos. Preserve your family history for future generations.

No kids here Abby. Well, I have my two nieces and one nephew in my albums though.

Have you traveled much? I love traveling and don't think I'll ever get all my pics into an album. How about other hobbies? I take pics of my flower beds every year and am starting an album for them. What about heritage pages? If you have any old family pics and some ancestry info you could start a heritage album. Then there's always pets. I haven't started it yet but I'm going to make an album of my cat Pepper.

That's all I can think of right now. Hope it helps.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I had a few more on my own, including one of the opera "Carmen", which my daughter had a lead in this afternoon at her college.

This really is a great group for ideas.

Which ideas have you used?

How about your neighborhood? Pics of the house - inside and out - for future generations to ponder.

A cooking book? Photograph those favorite recipes while they're in progress. Include info about the ingredients and what the dish cost to make. Who in the family especially liked it?

Current events? It's an election year.

I'm a single gal, and as yet (human) childless - and I am an addict!

I've found that I really enjoy scrapping other people's kids (People I know, of course!) I made a small scrapbook of my friend's Daughter by downloading the pics they'd posted to a website, and using their text for the journaling and gave it as a gift. Now - she wants me to teach her how to do it!

And I agree with the other's ideas too - pets, trips, interesting days, events, friends, ancestors, etc.

And most important - Have FUN!

You know what I took pictures of and would have scrapped before kids took up all my time... flowers and plant life. I have albums of interesting flowers and plants that I've seen on my travels when I was single. I wasn't scrapping then and maybe someday I'll get around to putting them in proper albums. One of my favorite photos was taken in a park that had palm trees. It was noon and they made the COOLEST shadows beneath them.
