Photos on Layouts

Just curious as to how many of you like to use lots of pictures on a layout? Do you try and use up all your photos or just a few of them? I feel guilty for not using up my photos but sometimes i take so many i dont know what to do..in that case i try and incorporate a photo album on a layout.. What do you all do with the extras? curious chatty

I usually get doubles when I get mine developed. I give out the extra copies to whoever wants them and keep a set for myself and I use just the good ones to scrapbook. Occasionally if its a really good set of photos I will save them in another photo album. Sometimes I feel bad if I dont use all the shots I took, but I have learned to be really selective in choosing which ones I want to scrapbook. I dont like to do only one or two pics on a page. I think its a waste of paper unless the pictures are big enough to cover the page! I usually do no less than 3 or 4 per page, depending on the event. HTH Linda

I do multiple pictures on a layout. Sometimes it takes more than 2 pages to use all the pictures that I want to use. I've done a few layouts with only one or two pictures, but I don't do that very often.

I used to keep all the pictures we had printed, but now I'm getting better about tossing the bad ones. I'm still not sure what to do with the ones that I don't scrap. Right now they are in photo boxes.

I keep all of my pictures on my computer, but only have printed the few I'm using for my LO. I tend to use three pics or less on my LOs...although there are a few where I've used more.

with all the cruise pictures I took I got doubles but I ordered postcard holder sheets? from CTMH and I can place a page of 8 4x 6 pictures inbetween the special pages. They are extra to look at but I used 2-3 on the

12 x 12 page to do. Also if you have a subject in one pic you can trim around them and then lay that on its double to have a 3d effect. Just a few ideas.

This is a great question. In 2006 (hard to believe that long ago already) we went to WDW and took 1500 plus pictures plus had castmembers take another 100 plus pictures for us. For some of the events I don't have a problem picking a few of my favorite pictures for the layout but when it comes to a show or parade I have a problem I want them ALL on the layout. I'm actually working on trying to do a parade layout with lots of pictures thinking of shrinking them down to

2x2 and doing a frame. I have the page layout in my mind its just getting the pictures the right size.

But to get back to your question. I print out doubles of my pictures some make it to a scrapbook the other copy (full set) goes into a regular picture album.

I'm not a great photographer, so out of 100 photos I take I may have 10 I really love. I do digital photography, so I just leave the extras on my computer. I used to like having lots of smaller pictures on a page, but now I'm starting to like having just a few larger ones, s0metimes just one large one. Or a large one and a few small ones.

I love to fill up my pages with photos but I take so many that I could never possible scrap them all. For instance, from my last vacation, I took over 500 photos so there is no way! I scrap the favorites and keep the others on my computer and also upload them to the internet. If there are a lot of great pics of the same theme then I will do a digital scrapbook of those.

Hi Cathy I used to try and use all the photos. Now as I start to plan a LO I usually figure out how many pictures I will use. Then I try and pick that many of the best photos from that particular event. I do actually throw photos away. Thought they'd look good at the time, but maybe the background didn't look as good, or an expression didn't turn out as well, or it was blurry... etc. Now I have used blurry photos when it was the only picture of that particular event.

I'm about the same way. I go though the photos of an event, pick out the ones I really like and lay the rest aside until after I scrap the event. Then I throw away the ones I don't like and give the rest to DD and DS to scrap. As for the older photos, I will take the extras and divide them up among the older children. I have just plain photo albums for each of them. If I ever get caught up on the photos I have now and the two still at home, I will go back and scrap for them, but if I don't they will still have their photos in an album. (I do scrap some of their special photos when I go back and do some of the older photos. I try to do pages for each of the children so I don't just not scrap the three older ones at all) I always make sure to make notes and date the photos on the back before I slide them in the albums and sometimes put notes and messages on scid free paper behind the photos. My oldest DD is a scrapper also, but with five children she has her hands full just trying to keep up with their albums. Maybe one day she will have the time to scrap her own photos from childhood. Good quesiton.

I take so many pictures that I just can not use them all. Since I bought my digital camera I only print the really good ones that I think I will use on a layout. Sometimes I still end up with left over pictures. For the left overs I either put the picture somewhere in the house (fridge, frame, cork board in scrap room or in coffee table photo album) or I give the photos to friends or family. I even started sending pictures to my neices and nephews. lol.

Normally I do use more than 3 or 4 pictures per layout. I have been known to squeeze 10 pictures onto a 2 page layout. For those pictures that I absolutely feel I have to scrapbook and they do not fit on a two page layout, I will go onto extend the layout to 3 or 4 pages. Sooo to answer your question, I do all of the above.

I use one to 20 photos on a page. I just make up the layout and use whatever I need to tell the story
